I'm a competitive shooter and an avid hunter. Every one of those guns has a specific use.
The little walther is a trainer for my kids, the ruger 10 in mk II is my bullseye gun, the 30-06 is my big game/varmit rifle, the 10-22 is my small game/varmit rifle, the OU is my upland/waterfowl hunting shotgun, the 870 is three gun 'pump' class shotgun, the 1100 is my IPSC limited class shotgun/ slug gun for local deer, the HBAR 20 AR is my service rifle, the 16 in AR is my 'limited' rifle, the STI is my limited psitol, the g22 is my backup limited gun, the g17 is my 'production' class gun, the kimber is my L10/SS class gun...
you get the picture.
I have a need for all those weapons, and none of them involve homicide or defense.
All the worlds gun grabbers can kiss my a$$. because i use these guns for sport. but if you want to take them, you better come heavy, because i am never giving them up. i would post pics of the ammo dump and my dillon 650, but that would really compromise opsec.
Those are just the guns are just the ones I use for sport.

Goodness, get a hold of yourself, man!
I'd post all mine but the post would be rather long. And I've trimmed my collection 75% in the last 3 years or so, as I figured those were purely excess superfluousness. I could post a few of my most important ones and why I chose them over other models.

Whereas my Sako .243 deer rifle has a gorgeous walnut stock. Not to many dings on it after 30 years up and down mountains still hunting and dozens of deer. (I don't do tree stands, bait, scents, trail cameras or any of the rest of that nonsense.)
You wouldn't use a tree stand when you needed the deer for meat?
No.
I hunt for meat. The stuff I listed above is used instead of taking the time to learn how to hunt. To become really good in the woods takes more time than most people either have or are willing to dedicate. It takes hundreds of hours to become really proficient at many of skills that are now almost lost.
I'll relate a non-hunting example. A small group of us had put in at Long Lake on the Allagash River (Maine) and paddled down stream and set up camp on an island in the river for a week of November deer hunting. Late one cloudy/rainy afternoon one of the party went down the wrong side of a saddle and at dark had not returned to camp. It had started to rain harder when we heard a shot from far up river. A friend and I got in his 20' wood/canvas canoe and he poled upstream through fast water for a mile in the absolute dark and never touched a rock. All he was using was the feel of the river through the boat and the sounds of the river water on the rocks. You literally could not see your hand in front of your face. This remains one of the finest feats of woods craft that I have ever witnessed.
The first mistake many hunters make is thinking they have to be absolutely quiet. The second error is the sounds they do make identify them as a human. The third error is they are concentrating on being a killer which is projected outward like an energy field. Trust me, the zebras know when the lion is hunting and when he is not.
Moving easily through the woods in a manner that does not alarm all the inhabitants for five miles around is a very worthwhile skill to practice. With enough practice you will find yourself in a meditative state, simultaneously withdrawing into yourself and allowing your awareness to spread out all around you.
I have walked right up to many animals and they did not feel threatened. In some ways it is more mentally tiring than physically tiring.
All the "essential gear" that Cabelas, Gander Mountain and the other marketers are selling simply place more roadblocks on the path of truly learning skills and having true experience.

I just amazes me! Any of those kinds of weapons except the shotgun are illegal in Australia where I live. I have a .22 single shot rifle for rabbits.
But that kind of weaponry looks crazy.
Like Sarah Conner in Terminator 2.
I'll fairly certain that eventually, you Americans will end up blowing yourselves away!
first of all, you watch too much tv.
second, google IPSC and watch a few youtube vids. you will probably crap yourself when you see what we do with these weapons.
third, *those* churlish comments say more about you than they do about us.
I Fark I'm deadlier with your .22 single shot than *most people* would be with my whole arsenal and 6 of their friends.
Britain and to a lesser degree australia are overun with naredowells and drunken mopes committing felonious assault on the disarmed populace, and yet *they* are skeered of of some black guns ?
if you take a deep dive into the actual data, you'd see that all the BS you've been fed by the gun control industry is just crap. take out all the suicides and felon on felon shootings, and america is remarkably safe in terms of gun violence. ah well. in my experience, trying to reason with the feckless sheeple is akin to trying to teach my cat algebra. so im done trying. molon labe.

thanks for sharing homesteader.
thats all great.
i killed 7 deer with my bow this year and my climber and the scent lock helped. same with the three hogs. shooting them at the feeder helped too. i killed 30 geese, and the bigfoot decoys and ground blind helped too. i killed a bunch of upland birds and ducks and about 20 rabbits. the dogs were a big help. but i do all that for fun. if i really had to get game to survive, im using snares and trap lines, because they are always on the clock.
that guy poling down the allagash in the dark ? sounds foolhardy to me. the allagash is a serious river. the person that's lost should sit and shiver and the rest of the group can get them during the day. they should know that before they strike out. much preferable to the rescuers drowning at night. everyone makes mistakes my friend. most people who die in the woods die of embarrasment. i've been lost and it sucks. when you get lost, sit down and makle a cup of tea.
but maybe i should just STFU and roll back on outta here.

I know I've posted it before but heres a portion of my collection.
I'll forego the reloading stuff, and the amount of powder I have would probably make most crap. I actually have so much powder it would be illegal to store it all in one location without a certified storager locker.
Its not all in one place though.

Most people don't know that in Australia you can get a licence to own almost any kind of rifle, pistol or shotgun (except for fully automatic weapons) if you work at it hard enough. I
For what it's worth I live in Australia and I have or shortly will have licences that enable me to own any of the firearms that Alby posted.
Not cheap though- An AR-15 (SP1, the first model) is worth about $7,000 US dollars in Australia, because they're so rare and have been illegal to import (but not own or sell) since 1990. And even the tiny number of individuals who qualify can possess at most one semi-automatic centrefire rifle and one semi-automatic or pump action shotgun.
