I kinda got the impression they are on a short deadline but they wanted to come out here to the sticks and video our joint so I really don't know.
I told someone I was raised on 60 Minutes and interviewers scare me. Though the producer seemed pretty onboard I'd think that is the job but the on-screen personality is another story - not to try to make anyone think of Natural Born Killers or anything like that...
Thats why I really wanted someone just doing their 5 Rules thing in the midst of "average Life".

Here's the deal. Where do most Americans live? Cities or suburbia. There is very little chance for folks to actually support themselves in any kind of meaningful way. You would need to eat an entire garden of lettuce or broccoli each day to get your daily calories.
It is meaningless to yabber on about perma-culture when the real world is about drive-around-in-circles-culture. No one ain't raisin no beef in Beverly Hills. Or Kansas City. Or Seattle. Or anywhere. We've already tried CFL's, thermostats, Prius's, sweaters etc.
So this interviewer is smart and grounded in that reality and understand down deep that our infrastructure is way too forgone for change now. Without draconian government mandates or land redistribution. Neither is going to happen without rebellion.
So what do you say to this person? That allows them to NOT MAKE FUN OF YOU? Or worse. How do you parse your responses so as to avoid the National Security apparatus?

For those ppl, you stick to the moderate preps.
"If you are not in a situation to move to a farm, continue to pay down debts, keep learning useful skills, think about reducing your driving (including working at home, living close to work), and doing what you can to remain flexible."
That's easy enough, and certainly won't hurt them if TS doesn't HTF tomorrow. |

Yeah. Doubt they like to air someone saying their elected leaders are all two faced liars, or woefully ignorant, or that their viewership has their collective heads firmly buried in the sand.
Seems like the best route is to strike a balance, stick to the cold hard facts. But as has been noted it's tough to throw out answers on the fly if you're new at it.

I didn't talk to her. And I am in a very rare and special situation: Behind the Redwood Curtain  that clouds my perceptions. So take this with a grain of saltpeter.
But if she asks, I'd say:
for the very few lucky enough to live in or near a functioning small agricultural community, more than 100 miles from the cities, with non-aquifer water, etc. etc. . . . thank Jesus or whomever.
for the very few lucky enough to live in a major city by a rail line and water transport etc. etc. . . . buy the cheapest house on the best block. Near a police station.
for the very few lucky enough with money to bug out . . . well bug out and carry a big weapon.
for the rest you . . . look forward to porridge at breakfast, mush at lunch, and big steamy bowl of gruel for dinner? Be nice to your neighbors? See if you can get a carry permit?
