Sometimes... it really is the job of a politician to tell people plainly, that which is obvious. ie, "supply is unable to meet demand"; however, even if a real response is outside the realm of possibles, it is also required that they suggest some action that is vaguely related to the problem, even if they, and everyone else knowledgeable about the situation, understands that the suggestion is completely pointless.
The more people hear, "supply is unable to meet demand", the more it will sink in. Once collectively understood; then you can move to more... drastic... responses. _________________ Yes, we are. As we are.

I think it's more along the lines of

Keep at 'em midi. That was an excellent piece by Euan - Why oil costs over $120 per barrel for those interested. I assume this is a typo?

Suggesting a need for strong leadership implies that you believe there is a solution.
I have no such illusions. The current problem does not have a solution. _________________ Yes, we are. As we are.

Agreed.
The Titanic also would not have been helped by strong leadership. _________________ Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. Many more than half will die. It will occur everywhere, including where you live. If you fail to recognize this, then your odds of living move toward the "going to die" group.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown warned Wednesday that the world faced an era-defining oil "shock" that required urgent action, as European leaders struggled to contain growing protests over soaring fuel prices.
"It is now understood that a global shock on this scale requires global solutions," Brown wrote in The Guardian newspaper.
Every adult should be forced to use a 'carbon ration card' when they pay for petrol, airline tickets or household energy, MPs say.
The influential Environmental Audit Committee says a personal carbon trading scheme is the best and fairest way of cutting Britain's CO2 emissions without penalising the poor.
Under the scheme, everyone would be given an annual carbon allowance to use when buying oil, gas, electricity and flights.

Had your cod & chips recently?
Cod is like oil, you can still get it, everywhere, but BLOODY expensive.
"New" fish appearing, red snapper (quite tasty), etc. Go to the fish market at nearby town now & again. Some of the fish on sale I've never heard of / seen before. Ugly things with big teeth & lights on their heads!!!!, and these are not cheap either. Farmed salmon & trout cheap & abundant though.
BTW Gordon Brown is a complete arsehole, as are all of his ministers, as is GW Bush, etc, etc. They either haven't got a clue, or are clued up and are bloody liars. The more I read on this & other sites, the more I am convinced were considerably past peak oil allready.
