Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Apparently this CNN Europe news article slipped by us:
Survivalists get ready for meltdown
Quote:
"There's going to be absolute pandemonium when it does happen, so I just want to be prepared so that I'm not a burden on anyone," he says.
Climate change is high up on the list. Also up there is the fallout from a global economic collapse, possibly resulting from a state of peak oil -- the point where oil production reaches its peak and thereafter goes into freefall.
"They're worried by peak oil; the climate shift; the fragility of the economy. They share a lot of the same concerns as our conservative readers," he says.
In the U.S., the movement has occasionally been hijacked by far-right groups attracted by its rejection of much of government and its fierce defense of the right to bear arms. For example, Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVeigh was obsessed with survivalism as a teenager, setting up a generator and a store of canned food and potable water in his basement.

I heard it may be on Wolf Blitzer, which is from 4-7 tonight.
TV really puts the pounds on, and the years.
Check it out. When I was splitting that wood there were a bunch of ants in the log. They were biting my hand. I hope they don't see that on TV. _________________ Deep in the mud and slime of things, even there, something sings.

I doubt it, but they will probably be dropping two or three months' income into a fuel tank every year, which isn't very smart either.
The US is unlikely to see the fabric of society dissolve, but it is unlikely to see people driving 50 miles to a sales job either. Believing the former requires a leap of faith. Believing the latter requires incompetence with a pocket calculator. _________________ Volatility. When life isn't exciting enough.

They wanted to interview me, but the producer called me and said they were going with someone in NY as Sedona, Az was a bit off the CNN path. _________________ A Saudi saying, "My father rode a camel. I drive a car. My son flies a jet-plane. His son will ride a camel."

I am a little nervous about being in the spotlight, but it's over now. I'm glad to finally be able to get out some fraction of the peak oil message. I liked the graphic about peak oil, and our peak oil group. Maybe a few people will look up peak oil now, and then figure out what it's about.

Thank you Revi for stepping up and showing people that we are trying to find solutions to problems rather than being part of the problem.
It looks as if they were trying to portray us in a very negative light and you did a great job of public relations work.
I think your interview on CNN might help people with neutral views on the question as to whether our economy is sustainable see things in a more realistic light. _________________ "I eat the pretzel, it get stuck in the throat and I pass out..." - George W Bush

Revi,
I watched the whole thing the first time it was on, I must say I was first shocked when I saw them actually show the PO website main page. I thought it was a good story they did'nt really make PO people sound like nutjobs IMO, but what I did find interesting was after the story when they went back to the news anchor in the studio all she did was kind shrug her shoulders and just went to the next story, as if she did'nt understand what was really being talked about or just did'nt care.
Normally a news anchor would have had some kind of comment about such a stroy but she did'nt, she acted almost as if she just wanted to forget about such a bad thing like that would be happening now or in the near future.
Couple different transcripts available, actually. One of 'em has this segue:
Quote:
WILLIS: All right. Well, my next guest knows a thing or two about flipping houses and flipping out. That's the name of his new TV show on Bravo. So what's his secret to staying cool and making money in a down market? Jeff Lewis joins us now to talk about it.
As the Bard sayeth: BWAUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
On the CNN site:

I guess they needed some kind of a sensational thing to get people's attention, so they put "survivalist" in there to get people listening.

I think that they did a good job. I didn't want to sound like a nutcase. I think we'll get some interest in Peak Oil.com now. I am glad that they used the term peak oil.
I hope it gets people interested in what's going on.
It has aired at 6:50 am and at 1:15.
Did anyone else see it?
OOohhh. yeah! You did a fine job, Revi! I suppose you did consider wearing a "Don't Worry, Be Happy" t-shirt? *giggle*
It was just tooooooo short!
Maybe we could get the History Channel to do a program??

On the side bar to one post of the story (Link ) regarding a man in UK, are these other titles:

'Two dead' inside doomsday cult cave
Jim Rawles' Survival blog

I just hope I am not lumped together with the hard core survivalists. I like their blog, but I don't really consider myself in the same league. I am more of a green person, interested in community solutions.
That's not exactly the way they pictured me, however. _________________ Deep in the mud and slime of things, even there, something sings.
