Good morning folks.
I am very new here and this is the first time that I have ventured to post.
I have to be honest , I had never heard of *peak oil* until a few months ago and even then , the meaning was not immediately apparent .
After a bit of inquiring and googling , I found this site.
Since then I have been doing as recommended and reading as much as I can .

I must say that the little piece attached to one member that goes from Camel to camel is very .... can't think of the word.

My grandfather was a WW1 veteran and when he immigrated to Australia , he drove a horse and cart ....
If the peak oil scenario goes , as sort of predicted ....
my grandchildren will be driving in a horse and cart

and I'm not saying that to be funny either .... my kids are aged
7 , 5 and 3 yrs old respectively .

Cheers. Ozrose. who can see a lot more reading still to come.

Thank you Cashmere , you might just have it.

I arrived here at your site after following a reference to peak oil and it's repercussions , from a fellow member of a gardening forum in Australia .
This person raised the topic of peak oil and their preparations to cope with it ... and oh my goodness .
Talk about being shot down in flames ; most likely flames of burning oil ....
and it was a real shame because this person had a seriously good intention when trying to share ... how to cope with the future ...

But it was the start of me thinking about the great **unknown**
I don't have a crystal ball , but even i can see that the wild , weird and wacky way of consumer borrowing /banks lending to book crappola up on credit ....
and lending HUGE sums of money to kids for a McMansion that they rattle around in .....

Soooooooo keep reading, just keep reading .............

welcome to PO.com. I've been thrown off of two gardening forums for talking about PO. and ridiculed. You have some awesome plumeria in OZ. (afraid they aren't going to be much help in the future, though)

Welcome!

Take a look around, this site's been here for years, so there's lots of information. If you're wondering what to do, the Planning for the Future forum is a great place to start. Smile

Welcome fellow Aussy. adios A lot of the information is USA-centric, but there's a lot that's still relevant for us. And it's always a good idea to have some idea of what's happening in other places.

Welcome, Ozrose, to PO.com. We are sooo glad that you found us.
Yes, there is a great deal of good information here, and it is lot to absorb. Be sure to take breaks so that you aren't overwhelmed.
When you get a chance, don't forget to peruse the archives, too.
