I think this is the beginnings of an economy based on perpetual growth and fossil fuel energy running headlong into geological energy constraints. Basically I see an undulatory downward path for the rest of my life. From here out, I think any rallies in our economic condition are going to be met with spiking commodity prices that knock us right back down.

I am unable to enter the website through my usual means. So I deleted all my private data (cookies, cache, etc.) and still, when I go to peakoil.com all I get is a blank screen.

Finally I created a new user name and password and now I can get in.

Wha happened? Can I be me again?

I can only guess that it has something to do with the ongoing work to clean up the code that is going on. Be patient... hopefully someone who understands what is going on will be able to address the problem sooner rather than later.

Who were you any way?

I was pstarr. Now I am confirmed. I created a new account under another email account.

Oh. And my screen text is different now. Larger font?

I have the same problem, I've been working around it by going to PO 24 hrs, then clicking on the 'po.com' link at the top of a thread.

I'll try clearing the cookie for this site and see if that helps.

Eh, I've been having the same problem. I was tempted to call myself BlankScreen. No workarounds. I clear my cookies, and try to sign on at various entry points. No joy. Luckily it is summer up here, with lots of great kayaking and gardening and hiking and . . . .

Iaato here, by the way, from the subarctic north. In case Rocc thinks I fled the country and the internets after betting him a silver eagle about LEH.

I had this problem myself too. It had to do with choosing a theme in my profile. After I chose "Slash" and clicked submit, no HTML was sent to my browser, which produced a blank screen.

I could delete my cookies (which essentially logged me out) and view the forums alright, but once I logged in, I got the blank screen immediately.

There is something wrong with the combination of the forum software, theme code and the web server. The web server will send HTML to the browser when it responds to a request from the browser. But no HTML is being sent at all, which indicates an error in the code which the web server is unable to handle.

I had to create a new account to be able to post threads. This forum software isn't the best available, but it's free (if it is PhPBB). vBulletin is better but it isn't free.

ok ...now I have found my problem...I started as Taizy8 with one email account then got the blank screen thing. I cleared cookies, private data - everything (using firefox on mac) It worked for a few more sessions then nothing. Then I moved to safari and it worked just a little while then blank, so did the cache, cookies thing again.blah blah blah

Ok then I registered as Taizy............and same happened again

now I am Taizyee....found my way here.. like Alterego, luckily the Summer is here also I have a very busy and stressful time ahead - moving town, jobs, visa, country etc........and shouldn't be on the machine too much and I appreciate that the server is free etc and it is run on a tight budget.

Yours frugally,

Taizyee

So I'm not the only one with this problem.

I'm Ok with logging on here at work but my home machine gives me a blank page. I tried deleting my cookies and all that but as soon as I log on, it is back to the blank screen.

What exactly do I have to do to solve this?

geojap2 nailed it. It has something to do with the Slash profile when you first create your account. Do no use it but it seems that once you do, you are hung out to dry. Sad

I PM'd admin and asked him/her to change our profiles from Slash. Hope that works.

I was Iaato. I kept my avatar so I wouldn't lose my sense of self. I kind of like flying under the radar.

Post-peak oil we'll all just be regular joes and joettes.
