Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.
Obama seems to be the "gentle powerdown" candidate, while McCain is calling for a more European-style use of nuclear power plants and exploitation of offshore oilfields.

Nice way to convert nuclear warheads in peacefull energy purpose. Anyway, nuclear plants don't replace oil. Only natural gas when used in making electricity.

Thats a profoundly inaccurate statement.
Some electricity is still generated by diesel generators. Diesel comes from oil, dude.
Plug-in hybrids and electric cars run on electricity, dude. Thats another way to replace oil, dude.
Nukes also replace coal-fired generators, which release huge amounts of CO2 to cause Greenhouse warming.
cheers!
Takes 100 barrels of oil to make a plug in "hybrid"...700 million cars on planet.
Do the math...
Then read my sig. line on hope.
Cheers. _________________ "There must be a bogeyman; there always is, and it cannot be something as esoteric as "resource depletion." You can't go to war with that." Emersonbiggins

Not if you use electric vehicles and electric mining equipment and electric power from nukes to do the mining, transport the materials, and build the hybrid. ---Then it would take much less oil.

You can snooze and toke up if you like.
I've got work to do to build up this country's new nuclear infrastructure!!!!

There would also be more NG available for poor schmucks like me to heat my house.I'm considering converting from heating oil to NG.If a lot more people did this the savings in heating oil use could be substantial. _________________ Gimme some demand destruction.

So we have 104 reactors generating about 100,000 megawatts, add another 45 should almost increase our electricity to 150,000 megawatts. Besides the cost of construction, the infrastructure to distribute this new load would be expensive.
Maybe McCain is thinking about the "nuclear battery"
every little suburb could have their own, personal nuke. Too Cool! _________________ This is where everybody puts profound words written by another...or not so profound words written by themselves

What surprises me is a soon as someone brings some knew information to light (ie planet) everyone jumps on the 'it wont work band wagaon' as if there the only people smart enough to realise it.
Yes. we know nuclear energy isnt going to stop the fall, that's not the point. If your line of reasing is based on if something doesnt stop a collapse then dont talk about then hell, we wont be hearing from a few people for the rest of their so called productive lives.
Interesting how obama is rejecting at least now anyway, nuclear power. _________________ This story will be told for generations!
