Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Oil-Rich Venezuela Devalues Currency

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=businessNews&storyID=7799294

Quote:
Venezuela on Thursday devalued its bolivar currency by 10.7 percent to take advantage of high oil prices and generate more revenue from petroleum sales to bolster its finances for the year.

The adjustment of the fixed exchange rate to 2,150 bolivars to the dollar from 1,920 bolivars was foreseen in the 2005 government budget, but officials had been tight-lipped on when it would go into effect.

Wow,

That would be FOUR pages of replies so far on the Venezuela subject... I guess we are popular now!

It's too much for me to provide input to all the subjects being addressed here at this time, so all I have to say is: try to look at all the sides of the stories, and look at all stories from different perspectives, not only the peak oil perspective.... in the peak oil light, the Chavez administration seems to be the best thing that happened to Venezuela so far...

I could make a similar case with Saddam and Iraq...

Here are some info sources (a little biased, but hey, who isn't biased in Venezuela right now?)

http://blogs.salon.com/0001330/
http://daniel-venezuela.blogspot.com/

And the portal

http://www.venezuelatoday.net

Sorry for the condescendent tone of previous posts, but I'm really tiredd of reading all those "Viva Chavez", from people who mean well, but are looking at only one side of the story....

Greetings, and don't forget to continue with your preparations!

I'm shocked that Dubya hasn't made an outright move to "liberate" Venezuala already (coup attempts not withstanding). They are sitting on a huge store of oil. Hugo Chavez has been vocally defiant toward Bush. They are alot closer to the US than Iraq, i.e. shorter shipping route. As far as I can see, it is just a matter of time. In the mean time, I'll keep buying my gas from Citgo (the Venzualan national oil company.) Viva Hugo Chavez! Very Happy

One thing's sure: Hugo Chavez has GUTS!! Smile

Let's see--deals with/visits to China, India, Qatar, Pakistan, Brazil. Member of OPEC. Not dead or overthrown yet, despite Dubya's best efforts. His people are behind him--because HE'S behind THEM (what a concept!).

If he can only stay alive and uncompromised....
