Member Quotes
I think this is the beginnings of an economy based on perpetual growth and fossil fuel energy running headlong into geological energy constraints. Basically I see an undulatory downward path for the rest of my life. From here out, I think any rallies in our economic condition are going to be met with spiking commodity prices that knock us right back down.

Still stuck at 3.97... Even though areas around here (Minneapolis is in the $3.60's) are lower then us. They must be trying to make back some money on keeping it low for so long.

People falling all over themselves to gas up when a gallon of gas fell to $3.81 in my local area and they were topping off with smiles on there faces.

The demand didn't disappear it's waiting in the shadows.

Dropped about .10 to 3.89.

I find the psychology of gas prices interesting.

Our high here was about $3.90 a couple of weeks ago. Several stations are now in the low 3.40's.

I just don't understand how the price can fluctuate that much so quickly.

3.79 here. If this drop keeps up, gasoline demand should rise again year over year, which should put the "brakes" on oils drop. Also realize that the world is still a very volatile place. Just one hurricane or something in Russia could set off oils price rise again.

RBOB down another 12 cents today to $2.88. Summer driving season is almost over so I don't think you will see any real demand spike in the coming months. Retail at $3.40 to $3.50 is still relatively high and is still plenty of incentive to keep most people from buying a new SUV. Perhaps some will feel this is a good time to buy a severely depreciated used SUV if they are really going to use it for more than driving solo to work.
