I expect to die of a medical problem or an accident before dieoff gets me.

It's interesting how people tend to discount THOSE possibilities.

If PO were the only problem, then I'd likely survive dieoff. However, with all of the other sh!t that's brewing, I'm becoming increasingly less confident.

I expect to die of a stroke or pneumonia, as I have been close to one (superhigh blood pressure before getting adequate treatment) and had the other a few times. Fortunately I can afford medications currently, but, if times get tough, I expect not to be able to afford them, and then my chances of dying of one or the other or both (stroke leading to debility leading to pneumonia) go way way up.

Them's the breaks. Smile

I don't really worry about dying or not in the next five years from now. In fact, it doesn't interest me. It's so selfish.

I'm really worried about my wife who absolutely needs to take 3 kind of medicines each day in order to survive (She's epileptic). I married her just 6 months ago and I don't want to see her dying in the coming years because the pharmacy is empty...

My wife of 33 yrs is a diabetic (Type 1 or "juvenile onset," an autoimmune disease, not due to hypernutrition) who has suffered kidney failure & has had a transplant. Not only is she dependent on insulin but also on expensive immunosuppressive drugs like imuran & cyclosporin. Once the well runs dry, she's one of the first to die. She knows it, too.

Ludi, when my wife & I were married her doctor told me, in rather blunt terms as I recall, that she would suffer kidney failure at some point between her 35th & 45th birthday, and die from it. I was only 20 at the time & 35 to 45 seemed a long ways off. Things turned out exactly as he predicted, except that she didn't die because he had failed to anticipate the rise of dialysis, transplant & immunosuppression technology. She & I have 3 surviving kids & a grandchild. For her 50th birthday a few years ago, the kids staged a big party for their mom. (It was my 50th bd too, but I hadn't beaten the odds like she had, so the focus was entirely on her.) She realizes that she has been living on borrowed time & I think that makes her appreciate every minute of it just that much more.
