Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

I smoked for years and quit. The thing is that smoking is an oral fixation and you'll probably gain weight after quiting. I recommend hooking up with a girl who is also kicking the habit and engaging in lovemaking when either of you gets cravings.

Completely incorrect. In fact, as far as I've read, smoking 1 joint has the cancerous effect of a pack of cigarettes.

But you don't need a scientific study to understand this . . .

The more crap you breath into your lungs, the higher your risk of lung cancer.

Cipi - I stand corrected.

Thank you for disabusing me! I love learning new things that contradict the old things I thought I knew. I guess I was out of date - never even heard of that study.

Good luck with your quitting sir. It is hard, I've had a few bad lapses myself , but if you truly want to quit it is possible. I keep about a dozen reasons why I quit in my head, so when I do really want one, I start going down that list until it passes. Emphysema really scares me so I use that one a lot. Heh, here in NY a pack of Camel lights, (the brand I used to smoke the most) is now in excess of 6 bucks., so that helps keep me honest too.

Good luck in quitting smoking. It is hard to do. I know. I quit smoking in 2001. But you can do it. You will feel better once the cravings are over. Your taste and smell will improve. You won't stink like stale smoke anymore. And think of the money you will save!

I smoked 3 packs a day for 2 years. Now I'm down to 1/2 to one pack a day (2 packs a day on weekends when I'm at the bar). I didn't cut down for health reasons, though. I did it because it was getting to be too expensive. If I were rich I'd still be a chain-smoker. It's one of the few joys in my life... I think it's better than sex. As for dying young, I could care less. Old age is not something to strive for. Due to peak oil, most of us probably won't reach old age even if we tried.

Good luck with that. Most of the women I know smoke even more than I do.
