Ron Paul slams Bernanke:

video link (scroll down)

Seems like Ron Paul is the only politician in Washington telling it like it is.

It's too late.

Congress is giving full Government backing of Fannie & Freddie, and also giving the Fed the power to monetize (that is buy their debt in exchange for newly 'printed' dollars) all their debts.

Perhaps a possible collapse of the Federal Reserve Note (not really a dollar but called one) is not such a bad idea if it gets rid of the Fed and is replaced with real money later on.

Ron Paul was the ONLY Rebublican who could have WON this electiion.

Want Staight Talk? He'll tell you the truth right up front wither you liked it or not. Not just what he wanted you to hear.

I never agreed 100% with what Ron Paul said, but I agreed a WHOLE LOT MORE with Ron than Barrack, or what's his name, John!

Sorry silenttod but Ron Paul would NOT have won the election. American do not want to hear truth, thats why someone like Obama who gives no details only fluf will win. Most likely the end of his party when he doesn't deliver those utopian dreams.

It was never a question of time. He is a diversion, a placator, a professional noisemaker, who tells people what they want to hear but does not follow through. He is part of the status quo, a suit permitted to appear ever so slightly subversive in order to lull much of the opposition into complacency by giving them hope that comes independently of actual participation in the political process - and thereby forestalling it.

Such crumbs of comfort, plucky underdog personas, false champions, are commonly thrown out in countries possessing superficially democratic institutions but lacking the traditions. Even dictatorships past and present have found it useful to have their citizens sigh "They are all scoundrels, but at least he is different," as if it makes a blind bit of difference. In fact "he" is an obedient show dog. And crowd psychology being what it is, no-one does make a difference.

It works in every society, from the highest offices of state to the lowest local official, and in any private organisation with a large enough number of disaffected stakeholders.

Next time anyone wants to punch the air and exclaim "You tell it!" understand that in many cases, that is the intended response to a deliberately planted stress toy.

It is bait.

Not always, but you have to recognise it some of the time.

(Not specifically aimed at Dante - at the deluded Ron Paul enthusiasts really)

He’s calling out the system and saying it’s a mess. What’s the diversion? Nothing he said is what people in the US want to hear. If more American’s watched C-SPAN (and understood what he was saying) they’d sh!t their pants.

Bravo Ron Paul!

It is what the thinkers among the populace want to hear. Some of them, anyway. Enough to make them recognisable as a group and make it prudent to throw them a pacifier. As for the rest, as you said they do not watch C-SPAN. Different segment, different approaches, also effective.

As time goes on, it may become ever more important to distinguish candour from playing to the crowd. No-one can get it right all of the time, but spotting the obvious cases will save much time and effort idolising a puppet.

Not quite sure what you are getting at. Are you saying that Ron Paul does not believe what he says? Or that anyone who attempts to reform the system from within the system is a puppet?

He may believe it enough to sound convincing. He does not believe it enough to do much except talk, put it that way. I doubt he is doing much reforming. I think the idea is to make people believe someone is doing something, so they do not take it upon themselves. And direct a portion of the efforts of those who will try anyway towards cheerleading a paid-up member of the club. Human beings are very open to that type of suggestion. You can see little microcosms of it here.

It is pretty clear what I am getting at, the man and his ilk are professional wasters of people's time.

Obama is the puppet for the masses. He is the one that is 'different'.

And when they get sick of him a new champion will arise.

Ron Paul is not the puppet. He does believe what he is saying but he also believes no one cares and that America has long since fated itself to an economic collapse.

A lot of people here know what it wrong and perhaps have an idea oh what it would take to fix the system but likewise understand that it will nevertheless not be fixed.

Ron Paul is a puppet for the minority not covered by Obama.

One lot takes care of the majority, another lot gives the remainder consolation. Words of comfort are not the same as help.

Does that make you the puppet for the peak-oil aware sub-minority?

Who knows? Beware the man who gives you something to punch the air and gulp a beer to, that's all I'm saying. People buy into that sort of thing all too easily, understandable considering how many will have had no experience of repressive political conventions. It is an education they will need if their expectations are to be believed, yet they do not seem to possess it. An interesting contradiction.

He's bringing up the subject and stating the problem.

What are they doing in the UK, denying there's a problem still???

We need a bunch of LOUD MOUTHS SCREAMING THAT THERE'S A PROBLEM.

That is a good thing if it gets to the public. It might cause an "oh sh!t moment" for J6P
