CNN is running wall to wall coverage on Ubama's campaign changes. First his Iraq plan reverses, then his NASA plan reverses, then his energy plan reverses. Now if only he'd back down on those stupid entitlements for homeowers. It's "Change in Ubama you can count on." _________________ People first, then things, then dollars.

Responsible to who?
Libertarianism is fascism, just packaged a little nicer. |

Vote green or write-in a candidate if you don't like the LP.
But if you don't vote, THEY WIN.
Our votes work to counter-act the votes of the elitist f*cks who run this country. If we don't vote, their votes count twice.
I'm going to be voting Libertarian this election. Not because I think the LP can or even should win, but because it sends a message that we don't want the Republicrats controlling us anymore.
Also, when in doubt, vote against the incumbent. _________________ "www.peakoil.com is the Myspace of the Apocalypse." |

Yup, I too will be voting for a third party. As usual. _________________ Got Dharma?

Bob Barr seems more of a Republican than a libertarian to me.
I did vote for Ron Paul in the Wisconsin primary, for whatever good that did.
Over 90% of the incumbents that ran in 2004 won. We aren't going to have any meaningful change unless that situation changes.
However, no matter who is in power, this country is going to exploit every source of oil that is economically feasible to exploit. And maybe some sources that aren't economical.
As the oil supply gets tighter, the country will demand this. Unless there is a significant (very soon) breakthrough in alternatives, desperation will silence all opposition. |

Well, yes, that is what US president candidate is suggesting.
1. Open SPR and release 70mb to lower short term prices.
2. Drill more.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7541291.stm
I think, we are approaching end game in US economy (haphazard bailouts, release strategic stocks, drill more to get last drops left etc.
I think, oil above $100 is actually making a trick and large parts of economic activities are going to be shut down pretty soon. |

How the World Works has an excellent review of the full proposal by Obama, including a link to the full text of the speech.
I think tapping the SPR is a strategy to counter McCain's offshore drilling gambit. The full proposal is heavy on renewables. How we'll pay for it is anyone's guess, but that applies to any suggestion from either candidate at this point. _________________ TANSTAAFL |

I've thought the same thing. For all the gnashing of teeth everyone does about politics and PO, nobody seems to say, "it really doesn't matter who is elected. We're screwed!" Whomever wins the office will be the fall guy because there is really nothing they can do to stop this and everyone will blame them anyway. Remember the term sheeple! And besides my happiness is not dependent on the government or anything external. My happiness must come from inside. (OK, I got a bit deep there)

| Here is a thought, vote against all incumbents. We keep doing that and we will roll over the entire congress in six years. We don't need term limits. We need a motivated voter block. |

It's funny, Obama keeps saying we're not going to solve our problems with a drill, and McCain says we're not going to solve this by inflating our tires. They're both right, but each is just looking at part of the elephant and can't see the whole thing. _________________ One of these now am I too, a fugitive from the gods and a wanderer, at the mercy of raging Strife.
