Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

When we have an event, such as a Georgia-Russia war, or possible future events like the collapse of Fannie Mae or a US-Iran war, the amount of similar threads multiplies rapidly.

Consolidating all these threads may disrupt the flow of conversation on specific side issues - such as how does this event affect the price of oil.

Therefore I suggest that unusual events be temporarily be given their own forum. Then it would be easier to find threads such field reports, what bloggers are saying, how this affects the price of oil, possible repercussions, etc. Plus polls would be easier to find and wouldn’t clutter up the main forums.

The "last 24 hours" list works pretty good for this.

I like this idea. It seems like it might be better for all concerned. People not interested won't have to deal with Current Energy News being swamped. Less work for the mods, corraling all those threads and trying to merge them. And for who are interested, a convenient place to find all the related threads, without having to deal with 1-3 cumbersome mega-threads that take forever to load.

The only question is what to do with it afterwards....

I'm not happy to see even more forums. There's too many of them already. You have to look in too many forums to see if anything interesting was posted recently. The current event forum is already for this. Most of it could just as well be placed in other forums, such as a geopolitics forum.

Create a forum called "Ahmadinejad sneezed in his soup -- I Can Haz War Now?"
