Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Today (March 16,2005) might be the day when Bush (and neo-team!) might be considering that they can be VERY easily accused of being oil hungry in their next war. (and it might be considered truth) Because Oil prices have scored another record and various mainstream publications have mentioned Peak Oil.
The only way I think that they can potentially flick away that assessment (and thus get support for the next war) is to claim they are defending another country. And this requires the country to be attacked by an oil-producing country... I'm predicting an 'attack' on some allied democratic country (we are defending democracy! - I bet will be their rally cry), then a draft, then an occupation with Haliburton not far behind the troops.
I just can't see Bush calling for conservation and sustainable movements all across America. Somehow, I don't think that has ever been a choice for him.
And of course, these all probably should be taken with a grain of salt because we're trying to predict the behavoir of irrational people.

Well, I can't predict what they're going to do, but I disagree with the statement that they're irrational. I think they know exactly what they are doing, they just have goals that conflict with those of the rest of us. In fact, the more I've learned about peak oil and the global economic and energy situation, the more sense their actions have made. Not that I condone them, mind you!

There's another way to achieve that result and that I'll leave as an exercise to the reader...
