Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

i was attached to the old name for the forum.
still a good forum, though.
why did you re-name it ?
i thought "Depletion Economics" sounded original - is it a phrase you guys came up with ?
it did have a connotation, a little like a forum about the market economies of malnourished people, but, this being Peak Oil.com, i think the meaning is obvious enough.

We changed it because people kept posting off-topic garbage in the forum.
How many threads about personal investment advice do we really need?
Everyone wanted someone else to tell them what to do with their money. Every single one of those threads ended up looking exactly the same but merging them together would have been both a waste of time and highly counter-productive.
No one was talking about "the effects of hydrocarbon depletion on the global economic system."
As a result, we were forced to change the title of the forum. _________________ "www.peakoil.com is the Myspace of the Apocalypse."
