Colorado is a wonderful place. If it wasn't for the short growing season I would move back there today. In fact, if NREL is hiring, I will be applying!
So they have voted twice to require renewables to be a large part of their electricity production. I really can see them allowing the western half of the state to be dug up to produce oil shale!!

I shudder at the thought of our wilderness areas being dug up so people can continue to drive 1 mile to the grocery store, 2 miles to work, or get in and drive one block to the liquor store.
It's a good thing wind energy is looking a lot more viable as fossil fuels continue to become more expensive.
Electricity is fantastic because it can power EVERYTHING. Not only that, just like liquid fuels, all you have to do is conserve to see real $ savings.
