Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Russia is sending its only aircraft carrier to Syria. Sweet. This is like the arch duke ferdinand incident all over again.

Russia carrier to Syria

This comes on the heels of Russia and Syria talking about putting Russian nuclear capable missiles in Syria.

What can be said?

No question. I just wish the Russians would be a little more subtle about underlining the point. If they're going to be a force to be reckoned with again, give people time to do the reckoning before you apply more force, it seems to me.

Thought I was going to make a 911 statement, but decided not to pollute SH's thread.

Subtlety is only viable when the recipient of your message is intelligent enough to comprehend it. Some people (and sadly, some world leaders) really are that stupid.

The biggest risk, it seems to me, is a proxy war.

RF arms Syria, Israel preemtively attacks Syria, RF starts feeding Syria steady supply of arms. U.S. feeding Israel arms. Something like that.

.... yeah, then the House of Saud collapses after a popular uprising when The King does nothing to support fellow Arabs ... heh... yup, just what we need, more agitation. More arms. More concertina wire and more missiles.

Well, anything's possible. But the Middle East, for all its strife, has been reasonably stable militarily for decades. Seems to me the gloves came off once the Russians weren't in the mix anymore and Israel became the obnoxious little creep who's the pal of the big guy. Having the Russians back floating around might put the cap on some stuff again.

Or, it could just completely blow up. It's anybody's guess.

Isn´t the USS Cole, along with other ships already there? This is an article from March 1, 2008 link

Quote:
Beirut / Paris - France disclosed today that it was informed of US decision to send US warship USS Cole off the coast of Lebanon and that the French government neither supported the US action nor objected against it
...
The spokeswoman described the US action as a show of force and as an escalation of pressure on Syria to stop meddling in the internal affairs of Lebanon and the region.

...The Russian spokesman characterized the visit of the Russian Navy's aircraft carrier to Syria as an escalation of pressure on the US and Israel to stop meddling in the internal affairs of Syria, which include meddling in the internal affairs of Lebanon. Smile

Russia was on her knees after the fall of the USSR system.
She has too much land and resources to stay there. Taking
think tank schemes and applying them to the world like wall
paper and hoping they stick is not working well for us.
I think it is a tragedy that there is not a North American to
Siberian rail line and that we are picking at the bones of
the Cold War as if we can replay the 1980's again since
we aren't worth a crap at doing the 21st century.

Running out of money and gas while trying to get
a familiar old fight going again is not my idea of
a plan, if there even is one.

When you have a plan but don't have a clue, you
also don't have a clue that you probably don't have
a real plan. Smile a bunch and talk loud until it all
blows up on you and you have to try something else.
I guess that is a plan after all.

Silly Russians. What's the point?

If my measurement on Google Maps is right, It's only about 500 miles between Syria and Russian territory. That's a few minutes' flight for one of their Mach 2.8 fighters.

It's the US that has the 8000 mile supply chain.
