Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

You have to get this into the hands of somebody who can make a movie out of it. Who in Hollywood (or Bollywood) is into peak oil?

Maybe Leonardo DiCaprio. He had Heinberg in his recent eco-movie. Maybe he could make the first action peak oil movie!

It's worth a try. Send one to Richard Heinberg. He's in with the in crowd!

Just emailed Richard Heinberg...we'll see if he comes back. Thanks for the suggestion, Revi.

I lent Last Light to another friend and he read it in two days also. It really is a ripping yarn. I think it would be a best seller if it made it to the US in big numbers. You just can't put it down.

I have to get it back, and lend it out to some other friends. I know they'll love it.

Alex, I read your book three weeks ago, and that's how I've discovered all this stuff about PO! It has not been printed in spanish yet -I got a copy in english- , but I guess it would be a great hit in Spain. I enjoyed it, and also has awaken me to a situation that, as most people, I did not consider until now.
Thanks for the read and for being my gate into the Peak Oil. Now I'm gathering information and, well, just beign prepared in case the worst comes.

I'm glad this thread got bumped. I hadn't seen it before.

For anyone who has read both books, please compare Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" to "Last Light."

How about an electronic download for about $10?

I have been getting a lot of books this way lately and it seems like a win/win.

Imagine that. A writer making money writing.

This is an important topic and fiction is a great way to familiarize people with the issues.

If you want to spend your money on stuff for your pantry, go right ahead.

I am so very past caring about making any money at all out of this book. Really.

Since it came out last year in hardback, the world's gone very quickly downhill and I don't see us pulling out any time soon. So fine...call it what you want, kernull. If it was about making a buck as a writer a two or three years ago, it sure as hell isn't now.

I really enjoyed your book Alex, and I hope that you made money enough of it, at least to get a nice place in the countryside. Cheers.

I wish you would get this book into the US more. I lent it to another friend and he is mesmerized. What a great way to get the peak oil message out there. Everyone I've lent it to has loved it.

As I said before, it would make a heck of a movie!

Bought this book last week at local store here in the UK, it's now disappeared off the shelves. Not sold out (there's no trace of it).

At the same time Gordon Brown has issued 3 announcements re food scarcity in the mainstream press over the last few weeks.

Think he might of read it, asked some questions and got scared??

I received my copy yesterday, (it was shipped from Germany!). I'm half way through it. Pretty good read except it is already behind some events. It talks about oil surging past $100 per barrel.

Whilsts it's not a PO story, it's a chilling read. Here's the trailer:

Meanwhile, as I speak, I'm at work on a sequel to Last Light - which in itself Im finding to be quite deppressing.

I really need to write a happy-clappy book someday.
