Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

I read Last Light recently and thought it was awesome and terrifying.

You can't put it down. There are several tidbits that are really perceptive, like the husband who went into a psychological black hole the more time he spent studying peak oil and how his wife thought he was crazy, until...

Very nice effort.

thank you.

It was somewhat autobiographical. You really can get quite down thinking about PO, and how utterly buggered we'd be if we carry on the way we are.

I'm working on the sequel right now...set 10 yrs after the events of LL; a mixture of pretty intense and grim stuff, and strangely, moments of bright optimism

Aside from the subject matter, which I'm sure all of us here are happy to see in a work of fiction, you are a really good writer.

You've read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy, I assume? You captured a bit of the bleakness and fear that he depicted.

The scene in the mall also reminded me a little of "Dawn of the Dead" (the original), even though your book didn't have zombies.

I just got my copy back from a friend. He had lent it to a friend who lent it to... you get the idea.

It is a great book to lend to those who think you are crazy to talk about peak oil so much.

I think I'll lend it to my sister. She always gives me a hard time about it.

thanks for passing it around.

Point of interest....a UK film/TV production company have optioned the rights to Last Light. I for one would love to see a primetime movie on television with the subject of PO in the starring role. (Preferably my book....but any other tale on the subject would do)

Can you imagine the conversations around the watercooler the next day at work?

That's great! I would love to see it as a movie or TV series!

It's still the best peak oil fiction I've read.

A ripping yarn as you Brits would say.
