Anyone else listening to this?
Sounds like energy is going to be a hot election topic.
About time. |

Remind you vaguely of this? link _________________ "We were standing on the edges

I'm slow to form opinions. I like to listen to big speeches. Today's highlights could be reduced to a 3 x 5 card, but these people can sure spit out the rhetoric.
From what I can tell so far, it's going to be the party that is out of touch with reality vs the party that still believes in talking snakes. |

I'm looking forward to seeing the "Temple of Obama" on Thursday night--
--the dems are actually building a fake greek temple in a football stadium so Obama can appear to us mortals in an appropriate venue and give his speech. |

This is pretty bizarre. I wish, almost, that I had a TV so I could see this. |

Apparently I missed this at the DNC, but:
"Earlier this week, we saw the contentiousness the offshore oil drilling issue can bring, with McCain protestors and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi exchanging jibes on the topic at the Democratic convention. But the fact is, increased need to probe the remote places of the Earth for oil may bring about far larger, more dangerous conflicts." Read the article here.
Yeah, it's about time we discuss this and regulate this sort of action as an international community before things get way way way out of hand- ie the Cold War heats back up thread, etc.
Through my education and experience with IGOs and NGOs, the best way to prevent hazardous interaction in sensitive areas like this is with an international concensus... but how often does everyone agree, especially with an issue like energy? The UN badly needs reform, and it doesn't have a significant legislative body or military to stand behind its agreements.
How else would you propose that we tackle this issue? |
