Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Quote:
U.S. gas production is up 9% this year - a rate of increase not seen since 1984 - with most of that gain coming from natural-gas shale, particularly the Barnett Shale
Could somebody comment on this. Is this significant? I'm not sure what to make of this.
This articel is a few days old, but I wasn't able to find it already discussed in the forums. In case I missed it, let me know.

OilFinder2 has discussed this at length in his posts. Search for those under his username.
It's true. Estimates are for a 30% increase in US natural gas supplies over the next 20 years.
There are shale deposits all over the world that also have not been exploited. The Europeans are very intersted in trying to duplicate the results that have obtained in the US. _________________ "May you live in interesting times"

There have already been multiple threads on this. Might want to start with these two:

Don't count on it. These new plays are more expensive to exploit than the old ones. The good thing is that we might not see a shortage pushing up prices even more.
But very importantly: no one knows what the future holds.
Saying gas extraction will increase by 30 % in 20 years is not a scientific statement. That might happen, or the opposite might. These are very unreliable numbers and there is no way to make sure except by drilling and seeing what happens. _________________ Peak oil is not an energy crisis. It is a liquid fuel crisis.
