Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.
Yes of course, things will be much as they are now

@dorlomin: Not from London mate. But no worries, petrol here costs (compared to the average income) like it would be 5 pounds in London ... and I got stuck in traffic today evening. It was Sunday, for God's sake. _________________ capitalism *is* fun | crude oil price

It won't happen. The government is bust and the cost trebled before the credit crunch. I can't even picture how expensive it will be when oil is $400 +
The pound is to weak too just make any more money. I guess we could get a loan from the banks

If I recall it well, the 2012 Olympics will be the first truly "green" Games, with London showing everything it's got on the front of renewables, hyper-efficiency, post-oil transportation technologies, etc...
How can the Olympics be green,, all those new buildings,, stadiums, inside swimming pools and track fields, ect, etc, all for just around 15 days of sports than its all left vacant for small sporting events years later..
A true green Olympics would just be played outside with no wasted buildings and taxes to build all the stadiums and such,, its all a scam China broke rules with 13 year olds and no ones says a thing and all the under table pays offs to Olympic officials like what happen in Salt Lake and else where,, its a big waste of money, land and resoures........

If 4,000 sq ft houses and hideous SUV's can be 'green', then the 2012 Olympics can be 'green' too.
By now we should all know quite well that the word 'green' when used to describe very low environmental impact by humans, is utterly meaningless and, in fact, insulting.

Yes. In fact you could probably buy a hybrid motorhome for $500,000 and save the planet every day.
Which sort of begs the question. With as many times as we "save the planet", shouldn't we have a few dozen spare earths by now?
As to the question at hand. 2012 - yes. 2016 - probably. 2020- not so sure. If the gold bugs are to be believed though, they may have to change the medal categories in 2012 as gold and silver will be too expensive. Maybe copper for first, aluminum for second, and iron for third? _________________ "So while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power.
