I think this is the beginnings of an economy based on perpetual growth and fossil fuel energy running headlong into geological energy constraints. Basically I see an undulatory downward path for the rest of my life. From here out, I think any rallies in our economic condition are going to be met with spiking commodity prices that knock us right back down.

Pretty remarkable that we are number three even though our official oil reserves at what ? 30 billion barrels of oil if I am not mistaken. Then you have countries with much larger reserves pumping much less.. either insinuates that they have over exaggerated their reserves or in fact more investment in drilling could yield much more production for at least awhile.

Hey Stu, could we have a Top 20 Oil Net Exporters sticky? Between reserves, production and consumption, that would be really eye-opening for some of the newer people. _________________ Volatility. When life isn't exciting enough.

Hey there Stu! We have a Top Oil Net Exporters in the world. Between reserves, production and consumption, that would be really eye-opening for some of the newer people. And there are real consumers, who also reserves for other production purpose.
According to the survey, abu-dhabi is the biggest oil producers of all. Later comes Saudi Arabia, Russia, USA, Iran and many more.

Positions on the top 20 list change fast.
Mexico is no longer #6 and is now #9. They'll be #12 within a year. Maybe even #13, unless Norway and Venezuela quickly drop too. _________________ Got Dharma?

At first glance, it does seem odd to see the US and China in the top 10 producing countries, until you factor in their domestic consumption, #1 and #2, respectively.
Interesting to note, China stopped being an oil exporter 15 years ago and now imports on the order of about 4 million barrels/day.
Looking at the big picture, it is hard not to notice how the big economies (US, China, EU, Japan) are becoming more and more vulnerable and dependent on Middle Eastern oil exports. This situation is being accelerated by declines in countries like Mexico, the UK and Norway.
