Oil's energy contribution has declined by about 12% since 1999. The world's economies have also declined by about 12%. (Using conventional metrics, which are time delayed determinations, this will only be seen in hind sight). The massive destruction of asset values now occurring testifies to it happening. Peak is well behind us, world economies have peaked and will continue to decline.

Not at all, what I meant is that the probability that the current civilization will carry on in some semi isolated region even after the hard crash so in some rudimentary form is relatively high. Also, is profound psychological/culture shift likely to occure afterwards for our species, i.e. civilization capable of sane decisions based on knowing the perils of exponential function (economic and pop growth, environmental footprint, stupidity of warfare, ..) ?

Although, total wipe out for humanity might be in the cards as well, just read the forming documents of neocons for this century, they go "high five" for deploying genetic profile/race specific bio-weapons. It is reasonable to assume the Russians and Chinese have some matching programme or at least the capability as well..

Watch the documentary "Earth after people", just few dozens years after the humans vanished, the place starts to look like a wild and rich garden again.

There are many scenarios, you just have to find the positive aspects to all of them, they can be found..

Is misanthropic doomerism necissary in every thread? This has nothing to do with the LHC and physics.

The hadron collider will be a great source of wires and stainless steel for years after powerdown.
