Oil's energy contribution has declined by about 12% since 1999. The world's economies have also declined by about 12%. (Using conventional metrics, which are time delayed determinations, this will only be seen in hind sight). The massive destruction of asset values now occurring testifies to it happening.
Peak is well behind us, world economies have peaked and will continue to decline.

Rain, rain, rain, rain and for good measure, some more rain.
We are now in a situation where wheat and potatoes are rotting on the fields, as you cannot collect or harvest them. And this during a year, when the harvest was to be a very good one. Total loss.

Here in Germany, summer has been real hot. Autumn is starting very hot as well. And hopefully winter will be warm as well, without any snow in the large cities.

We've just gotten over severel straight days of rain here in Chicago, the most we've ever recorded in one set of days. It didn't come "hard", but persistent. Since Chicago is in "river country" we've got lots of tributaries that are flooding out parts of suburbs, roads, etc. Lots with water in the houses, roads, etc.
This is the first time our basement hasn't flooded, though, we are in the City of Chicago 'proper'. It's when it has rained hard and fast is when the sewer systems get backed up and we're looking at getting out the pressure washing system and havin' a go at it after the water has receded.
It was 49 degrees this morning, and it was chilly! It's been a cool-ish summer, with very few 90+ degree days, very sleepable at night. We didn't need to put in the air conditioning units at all, so it save us big bucks on the electricity. Now, it's descending into Autumn quickly.
The trees around here have had a look since August..like they've got a yellow tinge underlaying in the green, like they "want to turn" into fall colors, but it was too early. The trees are starting to look like it's going to be an early Autumn, with the trees dropping the leaves fast.
We always have wonderful Indian summers here, though, and when the first temporary frost hits, it will be welcome.
Let the harvests continue for a bit, I have some roses and a few more perennials to put in.

It has been in the low 50s for the last three or four days. Low to mid 70s in the afternoon, maybe some high 70s by weeks end. Definitely cool here for this time of year. And I have been seeing yellow leaves blowing around the yard for a couple of days. Seems a bit early to me. Perhaps Farmer's Almanac got it right about the long wet winter this year. _________________

**see, so you are seeing that "yellow affect" in the leaves way out in Oklahoma? I have a good friend I speak to several times a week out in Philly, and he says the leaves have, (like here in Chicago,) been like that there as well. So, this appears to be a phenomenon happening all over the East into the Plains states..hhmnnnn..

Slightly weird weather continues here in San Diego, as it has most of the year: September is often our hottest month, Santa Ana season. But for the past week it's been downright chilly - while occasionally heating up very quickly for an afternoon. We've been enjoying a lovely "Indian Summer" here in central Alberta for the last couple of weeks, very warm and sunny but man, is it ever dry. You can see the dryness in the grass (that is, the grass that isn't pampered) and in the trees. I understand we're in for a change after this weekend, though, with a trend to cooler, more unstable weather.
For me, at least in the northeast of Germany, the summer was only a bit warmer than usual - a few days above 30°C. We had a very wet begin of spring (very bad for farmers - everywhere they had to dig trenches and install drains). Late spring was very dry here - about 6 weeks without any important amount of rain.
Summer was quite warm till 11. September. In the late afternoon of the 10th i sat here in a beer garden with a t-shirt and shorts.
The weather changed on the 11th - in the morning a very strong sun, but then clouds came and it got colder.
Maximum from then on was about 15-17°C. In the radio i heard that in the mountains in the east of the state of Bavaria there was snow in the upper regions. That was unsually for this time of year.
Last weekend i watched in the evening - till it got dark - the "fly-in" of hundreds of cranes at the Mueritz (our biggest inland lake with 117 square kilometres) as they make a break there till end of september/beginning of october before they continue their trip to the south of Europe or North Africa. The guide of the guided tour said that the cranes are gathering early in masses at this time of the year.
Two or three weeks ago some trees already lost some dry leaves, although it was still warm. It looked already a bit like a early autumn.
Recently I read an article about the effect of contrails. It said that contrails have a warming effect - especially at night.
So with less flights....?
So i think we get at least an early winter. But if it gets cold and long i don't know.
Still very, very dry here in Georgia. The weather has turned cooler and humidity is very low, so it feels very much like California. With the drought three years old and counting, plus 8 of the past 10 years being drought years here, I'm convinced that the climate has shifted for good, to that of central Texas or Southern California. It's great if you love endless sun and blue skies, absolutely dreadful if you're a rain-lover like me. :/
Upstate New York is becoming more and more of an attractive place for me to move to...I'd give anything to be able to experience a rainy summer for once, not to mention snow in winter. In northwestern Germany Temperatures are now in the upper 50s /lower 60s during the day and in the lower 40s during the night. Like Jupidu said, it has been fairly warm until around September 10th, then it suddenly got significantly colder.
In the west of Germany we have had quite a wet summer with frequent thunderstorms and lots of rain. July was unusually cool, with daytime temperatures sometimes as low as 14C° (57.2F°) (though there also were some days with temps in the 90s), though I prefer that to a hot summer, much easier to sleep this way.
What's also notable is the general tedency of changing rainfall patterns. Rain used to fall in steady amounts drawn out over hours or even several days. Today there are much more tropics-style thunderstorms which dump a lot of rain within 30-60 minutes and which cause flash-flooding and soil erosion.
I have not turned on the heating yet, though at night the temp in my apartment drops to around 57 degrees, but for now I am helping myself by sleeping under three blankets and wearing a sweater. With gas prices that high I would delay turning on the heat as llong as possible, because onece you turn it on and get used to the cozzy warmth it provides, you don't want to turn it off again, even if a warmer period comes along.

Autumn arrived a day early here in the Great Basin region, with a blustery little rainstorm that "dumped" .04"---first measurable rain in 63 days. The willows, cottonwoods, aspens and greasewoods are tinged with yellow all of a sudden. Went firewooding yesterday in the mountains to the west and it was crisp--almost felt like snow weather. Got a full cord of dry lodgepole pine and it had the feeling of one of the last trips of the year. Well, here we are, the 1st of October, and in central Alberta the temperatures are forecast in the mid-20's (Celsius). That's very unusually warm for this time of year.
It's also been very dry here. You can see the dryness in the grass and trees. I think a lot of trees lost their leaves prematurely because they're lacking moisture.

Oct. 1st and it's truly "Autumn" here in Chicago! One of my favorite months, (and Springtime blossoms too.)
It was in the 40's last night, and the leaves on the trees are turning, the leaves off of my Maple out front by the street are yellow and falling off already! (sometimes this does not occur until the end of October if the year stays warm).
The leaves of my peach trees are falling off as well, but the apple and other new peach, crabapples, plum and cherry trees are still green and "on" the trees. The elm is doing fine as well.
Today, it has the crisp feel to it...dry coolish air, and blue sky with clouds. Makes you feel like a candied taffy apple, and warm apple cider..kind of day!
Today I open my last (we have 5 right now) Pumpkin Patch, and I look forward to all the children coming to see me! (I am kind of like this season's version of Mrs. Santa Claus, lol)
I will be out all day, rain or shine, and this is the type of weather that builds character.

Here in northeastern California we've moved, temporarily at least, from autumn into winter. Yesterday morning the low was 15 degrees, then last night it snowed 2". Today has been very cold and blustery with intermittent snow flurries. High 40 degrees, which is 30 degrees below average for this time of year.
