Member Quotes
Oil's energy contribution has declined by about 12% since 1999. The world's economies have also declined by about 12%. (Using conventional metrics, which are time delayed determinations, this will only be seen in hind sight). The massive destruction of asset values now occurring testifies to it happening. Peak is well behind us, world economies have peaked and will continue to decline.

Now that capitalism is dead, which politico-economic system would you prefer to take the dead man's place?

Of course, some say capitalism has never really existed in the first place, and that what's termed as "free market capitalism" is in fact corporate fasciscm, serving a tiny network of scumbags who control both the market and politics, so that they can use the state to bail them out when normally they should be bankrupt.

But that's another discussion.

So which politico-economic system would you welcome now that we can write, confidently, "capitalism: RIP (1780-2010)".

OMG! I am astounded that there was a customised answer for me out of the options: Fick dich, Ich bin einen Nihilist!!

Too bad the Hadron collider won't be up and ready to smash those particles for a few months now due to that bunged up magnet or whatever. I was looking forward to that black hole.

Capitalism is not dead. It has been around in one form or another for at least 800,000 years. Heidelberg man was trading across Iberia almost a million years ago. According to studies carried out by Cosmides and Toobie, the fathers of Evolutionary Physiology, humans carry a hardwired capacity to detect cheating in exchanges. Trading and swapping for individual benefit is very much a part of being Homo sapien.

What is dead is debt based fiat currency. We are watching it die as the world’s banking system continues to collapse. It can not co-exist with Peak Oil. The two are diametrically opposed!

Now I have to go work on my bike. We are going to see one hell of an oil products crisis in a few days!

Whatever route we choose it'll have to embrace a period of extreme darkness.

Darkness, Darkness
Be my pillow
Take my head
And let me sleep
In the coolness of your shadow
In the silence of your deep

Darkness, Darkness
Hide my yearning
For the things I cannot be
Keep my mind from constant turning
Toward the things I cannot see now
Things I cannot see now
Things I cannot see

Darkness, darkness,
Long and lonesome,
Ease the day that brings me pain.
I have felt the edge of sadness,
I have known the depth of fear.
Darkness, darkness, be my blanket,
Cover me with the endless night,
Take away, take away the pain of knowing,
Fill the emptiness of right now,
Emptiness of right now, now, now
Emptiness of ri-ight now.

Darkness, darkness, be my pillow,
Take my hand, and let me sleep.
In the coolness of your shadow,
In the silence, the silence of your deep.
Darkness, darkness, be my blanket,
Cover me with the endless night,
Take away, take away the pain of knowing
Fill the emptiness of right now,
Emptiness of right now now now
Emptiness of right....
Oh yeah Oh yeah
Emptiness, emptiness
Oh yeah

What we have now seems to resemble a transition towards corporatism. Lets hope it won't last long. If voters only realized they were being robbed, they would realize that it's better to vote for someone else. People have a choice. Although maybe not in this election yet. (Both D and R don't seem to care about the sheeple.)

Islamic "capitalism" - pretty laissez-faire, except with public control/strong influence of main natural resources and light regulations of markets. Much like what we have, minus the bailouts and large government spending/taxes.
