Oil's energy contribution has declined by about 12% since 1999. The world's economies have also declined by about 12%. (Using conventional metrics, which are time delayed determinations, this will only be seen in hind sight). The massive destruction of asset values now occurring testifies to it happening. Peak is well behind us, world economies have peaked and will continue to decline.

Fuel the Film
The dependence on foreign oil, especially in the recent Bush administration, hurts the U.S. economy with the roaring gas prices. That in turn affects food prices and many more. Why rely on oil? I found an amazing movie which explains all these issues very clearly, and I highly recommend watching it… and showing it at work, school, or anywhere there are large groups of people. It truly raises awareness of global warming, 9/11, and how we can turn to alternative fuel such as biofuel to save costs and moreover, combat the impeding destruction of the environment. Biofuel does not put C02 into the atmostphere like gasoline.. which causes global warming!

As we stumble into the future of a permanent global energy crisis, an interesting delusional theme has taken shape among the public and virtually all our leaders in politics, business, and even science: the obsessive notion that it's all about keeping our cars running by other means, at all costs. This is very unfortunate because it will be a colossal act of futility.- James Kunstler

Walk a few dozen miles a week, go somewhere interesting on public transportation. Get over your fear of carlessness now, or roll yourself up into a ball and die whimpering when it is forced upon you by reality.

I can't stand clueless people, especially when they come to this forum believing that they know something new for us, something that is going to save us ofcourse.

Ouch!

Everyone comes to the subject of Peak Oil with their own level of understanding. Enthusiasm is no substitute for facts, but we still need to recognize our future depends on as many people learning about Peak Oil as possible.

Nailing someone on their second post might mean one less person will begin the process of learning and contributing to the solution.

I have a son who insists on telling me he might be able to make a machine that produces more energy than it consumes so I'm familiar with frustration. But, he is a much better database programmer than I am so I cut him some slack:)
