Oil's energy contribution has declined by about 12% since 1999. The world's economies have also declined by about 12%. (Using conventional metrics, which are time delayed determinations, this will only be seen in hind sight). The massive destruction of asset values now occurring testifies to it happening. Peak is well behind us, world economies have peaked and will continue to decline.

You can't just post something freaky like that and not put a link! You better not be making stuff up just to scare the crap out of people.

Yes, RE is posting stuff just to scare the crap out of people. He has admitted to exaggerating about the DOOOOOM.

Don't take him seriously, he's just pretending to freak out for fun.

What a relief! But how will we know when he's really freaking out?

He won't be posting here, he'll be in line trying to get his money out of the bank.

Man, if the gov can't print enough to cover the deposits, whatever you have stuffed in the mattress won't be worth squat either so it's a moot point!

The more people who yell FIRE the more people head for the exit and the more that get trampled.

This is about bad paper chopped up and sold and resold and greedy people at the top left holding the bag...

unless enough people fan the flames into a panic.

Yes, the current situation is going to affect all of us in one way or another, BUT: consider who is screaming the loudest to get their hands on the economy.

My guess would be after the ATM system goes down, it takes no more than 2-3 days before people get the PICTURE that "cash" is not any good for trade anymore.

Complete nonsense.

People need a medium of exchange.

Supply and Demand. Supply and Demand.

If the ATM's shut off, cash will become more valuable instantly.

I once told my son (he was maybe 6) about the boy and what he got from the fable was if you tell a story the wolf would come eat you!

In this case, the boy(s) seems to be urging the sheep to lure in the wolves to eat us all.

The internet is a funny thing...

I am posting this from Landers California where I will be this weekend viewing the stars and galaxies with my telescope. My hobby.

I did pick up my $1000 from my credit union as I stated I would. But I did not with draw the entire amount I have there. I believe this event is a short term crisis. It can be shored up for the markets sake temporarily. Election year posturing is what I'm afraid of. Republicans are trying to position themselves to make it look like the Democrats were the ones that sold us down the river with this bail out. What BS!

The friend who called me last night and was the impetus to start this thread grew up in Mexico City. Her family is involved in the PRI party, one uncle was a Governor, another was a past Mayor of Mexico City. She is a smart and successful business woman. She is an American citizen now (I watched her be sworn in). She has no interest in politics and is very cynical about it from what she observed in Mexico City. What is going on now had her unnerved, she is no doomer, but she believes in being prepared to survive the short term. She basically believes all governments are alike. They serve the interests of those in power, and they will do what it takes to stay in power. They will kill people to stay in power.

Ordinarily, I'd think this was extreme, too. However, don't underestimate the use of tactics like these to generate a positive consensus for a tax payer backed bail out.

Yea I did, but once again the spin machine takes me out of context.

When I yell fire, few of you will be in earshot, hence the need for each of us to have a plan and regularly working it.

The current rash of yelling Fire I think is for personal amusement on the part of a few and not out of concern for the members here.
