What do you suggest in it's place? Realize, come Monday if nothing has come about by Monday you may have a freeze of all credit accounts; remember we are playing with the big boys here. Understand, if you have an AMX, Visa, MasterCard, or any other form of ready credit it may and probably will be suspended. I'm almost ready to take this risk but are you? Next level what if your bank, S&L and Credit Union take a "holiday"? You will be unable to withdraw money that is yours because the bank, S&L, ECT is closed!
Want to see runs on banks? Lines at all your gas stations (I have 4 bicycles I don't care about that one) because no one has any access to money? Or worse, violence, because people have no food, gas, access to $.
I'm much closer to retirement age than most people on the blog. I honestly don’t think I or anyone reading this will ever be able to truly retire (Herman Melville the man who wrote "Moby Dick" had to work till the day he died at 72)
What they are doing right now only buys some time. Maybe only 6 months. I don't know about you but I would like as much time as I can to prep. _________________ Skeptical scrutiny in both Science and Religion is the means by which deep thoughts are winnowed from deep nonsense-Carl Sagan |

Now cash is king. If you can live without a paycheck or a job, then feel free to to take a fall on your sword and protect future taxpayers. If you are not in that situation, I think you should listen to the financial leaders of the government. Main street is as much a victim as taxpayers, so chose your poison. |

Yup, get it over with. I've already seen the damage this crew does to everything they get to touch. I prefer the unknown to predictable failure.

Au contraire. If there is no bailout in sight by Sunday night, the week following will be a lot different from the week before.

| This Bailout scam is total bull. Yeah it if it goes through it will buy us a tiny bit of time but it will make the situation about ten times worse than it is now. At least now the dollar is still worth something and the US government is still seen as legitimate. This bail out is a suicide pill for the government and the country as a whole. This won't buy us 6 months. It will be more like 3 months before the wheels come off and then you will really see some Armageddon. I am talking total lights out in the dead of winter die-off type Armageddon. |

Without new heroin every day, the heroin addict will experience painful withdrawals, but will be healthier, smarter, and wealthier in the long run.

GOOD. Let's get this over with before it gets even worse. I'd love to have a chance to be alive to help my kid through it. The sooner the better. _________________ "Every junkie's like a setting sun..." - Neil Young |

We are a debtor nation. We need a little over 700 billion USD
a year to keep our government solvent. This comes from Asia
and other nations to a large extent. We have been able to
borrow this money on our reputation and credibility. We have
damaged these things. The bank wants collateral now, and
this is us. Uncle Sam needs to sign a note pledging 700
billion dollars worth of US butts, backs, and brains, for
another taste of that wonderful credit we have been
sucking up. The Chinese and Japanese have been working and saving and investing in you. A big plastic house with an SUV in
the driveway and a hot tub is not of use to them, they want
you to agree to work for them so they can retire on the
savings they have invested in you. Deal?
Comfort can be traded for freedom and it is very comfortable
until you have to pay up, and then it seem as if it is a moral
outrage, and is mostly the fault of the swine of Wall Street
who preyed on us lesser hogs and took advantage of us.
