Oil's energy contribution has declined by about 12% since 1999. The world's economies have also declined by about 12%. (Using conventional metrics, which are time delayed determinations, this will only be seen in hind sight). The massive destruction of asset values now occurring testifies to it happening.
Peak is well behind us, world economies have peaked and will continue to decline.

Well, I think when the tow trucks can't get out to clear the roads... or when the state patrol cannot get out...
that will be bad... this is just a very small preview
Yeah, the Governor was saying on the news if it got really bad that he'd order schools closed and maybe even declare a state holiday.
Imagine that...hehe.
But yeah, if the gas really ran out, as opposed to a mere shortage, that's when TSHF. _________________ Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide...

I work for telematics company (think Onstar only for non GM cars). The call volume from Atlanta is freaking crazy. Last week it was Nashville, now its Atlanta. Lots of cars out there driving on fumes.
Maybe it's short term, Nashville cleared up in a few days. _________________ Hair in my eyes like a highland steer, spring in my step like a white tailed deer. Hitch in my hip like an old sheep dog, puff up my chest like a big bull frog.-Corb Lund

I think you mean the Nashville in an alternate universe. It's not "cleared up" here yet--but it has gotten better. About 50% of pumps are still bagged. Everyone I know has cut out any extra trips, traffic is quite light around town now. Gas is available, but running around $4.25.
I think it's a bit of shell game right now. Where's the problem, uh oh, send the trucks to Nashville, no wait it's Atlanta, send the trucks that way, uh oh, send the trucks to Asheville. regular gasoline is around 3.8-3.9 in Nashville now, and there is plenty of it ( so what if 50% of gas stations are out of gas? who needs 4 gas stations on each crossroad anyway )

That's good to hear. The call volume here has dropped off for Nashville. Things looked very bad a week a go. _________________ Hair in my eyes like a highland steer, spring in my step like a white tailed deer. Hitch in my hip like an old sheep dog, puff up my chest like a big bull frog.-Corb Lund

there is a severe shortage of DIESEL in the entire south east.. from Washington DC through Florida to Texas.
gas stations with car diesel pumps are probably still selling, but the truck stops are either limiting to 48 gallons per truck per day, or selling out and waiting for fuel deliveries.
I ran into out of fuel stops in wildwood Florida ( a major fuel stop chain at a major place people going to MIAMI fuel up.) across the panhandle of Florida and up I 65 to I 59.
small mom and pop places are still selling till they run out, but the major chains who sell 3 to 10 tanker loads a day per location are struggling to keep fuel on hand and not always succeeding. _________________ Courtesy and Courage, Sincerity and Self-control, Honor and Loyalty...a Code to Live By!

I just got off a long call with a guy in a rough part of Atlanta looking for gas. During the call he spots a gas truck. So then he, bless his heart, and 3 other cars start chasing the gas truck to the station. _________________ Hair in my eyes like a highland steer, spring in my step like a white tailed deer. Thanks for the update 48th - you have valuable and direct observations, and I, for one, really appreciate your posts. _________________ Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. And here I was envying the diesels for still having fuel in NC. Pretty much have to wait an hour for gas at my neighborhood. That is if you can find it. LoL I sat in line and kept Playin "Its the end of the world as you know it." It is a wander I did not get shot.

Sitting tonight in Knoxville, tn at the flying j. They have enough fuel they are NOT rationing to 48 gallons, all flying js in AL, SC, NC, and VA are either rationing or out of fuel, their web site to check availability is crashed, but I did get through to it at 430 pm before talking about it on XM radio. gave out the web site it has been crashed ever since GROAN.
truck stops of America web site only lists KNOXVILLE tn as out of fuel. ( it is across the freeway and out of fuel)
Petro claims to have normal fuel at all stops.
I have noticed today several smaller independent truck stops with all but one fuel lane closed off.. Maybe they are slowing sales by limiting the number of trucks that can fuel at once? _________________ Courtesy and Courage, Sincerity and Self-control, Honor and Loyalty...a Code to Live By!

Just talked to my wife who unloaded her truck in San Antonio today. Flying j was limiting fuel in SA, T A was not limiting just north of SA but is limiting in dallas. The flying J in the houstoon area is closed midnight to 6 am and limiting fuel. _________________ Courtesy and Courage, Sincerity and Self-control, Honor and Loyalty...a Code to Live By!

This fuel crisis is in fact a symptom of the systemic apparatus set up to deal with peak oil. where reserves are located, and where and how oil is distributed. The FAILURE to expand distribution systems to avoid a problem such as we are experiencing is a direct result of containment of oil infrastructure by those exploiting it then for profit. There was no expansion because there was no extra capacity to drive it. I am glad this short diesel thread was merged into the thread I thought I was posting it into when I started it.
second comment UPDATE
TA is still as of 10 am this morning out of fuel. ( I went and tried to fuel up there.) I noticed several other brands that had trucks fueling as I proceeded to wythville VA where I topped off the truck at a flying J that was listed as limiting fuel ( I took 59 gallons and it let me).
Tonight I am parked in Raphine VA where they have supplies ( this truck stop is owned by the oil distributer for this part of VA and of course their own stop would have supplies.
Again it is my opinion that this entire shortage is related to the failure of the refineries in the Houston area to provide fuel to colonial pipelione... Imagine that pipeline full of the water they pumped into it to force the remaining petroleum products up to the Washington area ( we cant fail to provide fuel to our lords and masters after all). Once they start pumping petroleum again the product will flow up the pipeline at 3-10 MPH 790 miles to Atlanta,
240 more miles to Nashville, or Charlotte, NC, 300 miles from Charlotte to Richmond, VA. 220 miles to lower NJ/Delaware. and another 100 miles to NY.
The fuel that was pushed up to Richmond ( to service Washington, DC, and to Carney's Point NJ to service Baltimore to Philly to Newark better last a while after Atlanta starts receiving fuel. _________________ Courtesy and Courage, Sincerity and Self-control, Honor and Loyalty...a Code to Live By!
