Oil's energy contribution has declined by about 12% since 1999. The world's economies have also declined by about 12%. (Using conventional metrics, which are time delayed determinations, this will only be seen in hind sight). The massive destruction of asset values now occurring testifies to it happening. Peak is well behind us, world economies have peaked and will continue to decline.

It went well. We each discussed our ideas for local solutions. We also connected with a guy from Transition Towns. I am going to try it in our town. It was very interesting.

We had about 10 people and then John Howe spoke at 4pm.

It's a start.

We had our car there as well:

It was really fun.

Sorry I didn't get to meet you folks this time, I finally made it to the fair about 4 during John's talk, but it wasn't something my kids were going to sit through. They really liked camping though, and are excited to get some chickens next spring.

That's ok. The kids wouldn't have liked the circle at noon either. They absorbed lots of stuff that will work well. Chickens are awesome!

I was the guy with the green solar car near John Howe's talk. Did we talk?

Revi,

This is a little off topic, but it concerns your friend burning 30 cord of wood a year Confused

I've heard pretty bad things about those outdoor boilers. I've been looking into heating systems lately (I'm about to move to upstate NY, btw) and it seems that gasification wood boilers connected with a thermal storage system are MUCH more efficient. It's a little more expensive and complicated, but geez, if it saved him only 33% he could sell the other 10 cord and pay off the system in a few years. And it would probably save more than that.

You can google gasification wood boilers for more info, but I liked the ideas on the CozyHeat website.

Of course, insulating and stopping air infiltration are the first priorities.
