Remember that Africa is the only place where Homo sapiens is not an invasive species. Not that it will be anything close to easy going anywhere.

Kat, I'm sure you're not alone in your reluctance to return to the homelands. Of course, most blacks who settled Liberia had even less of an idea what their exact original lands were, but that didn't stop them.

It's doubtless an unworkable idea, but one that perhaps shouldn't be discarded out of hand. As the good book (Tao Te Ching) says: the way of the Tao is return.

One of my favorite bumper stickers that I used to see on Native Americans' cars back in the '70's parodied the then-popular slogan "US out of Central America!"

It read: "US out of North America!"

Unless you've got money and power, you're not on the "winning team".

The fact that most of those people are white has more to do with the fact that the regions that came out on top in the imperialistic struggles were mostly white, and less to do with the skin color itself.

Coincidence coupled with the fact that wealth/power are largely hereditary.

Besides, we don't know for sure if those with money to prepare will be better off than those who know how to live without. It's anybody's game.

Maybe Africa still has much to teach us. According to the book Becoming Evil, the Rwandan Genocide was a much more efficient killing machine than that devised by the Nazis. It killed far more people in a shorter time.

It is amazing what a motivated population can do with a three dollar machete. So much for the UN notion that gun abolition makes us safe
