Oil down to $78. Gold down $82 so far today. Silver is down $2.50 today to $9.50. This is amazing. _________________ "So while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power.

What really sucks is there is no silver or gold to find. APMEX is completely out. Deflation is the game it looks like but if you can hold off selling your PM, inflation will hit sometime afterwords. IMHO. _________________ Arsenal

If I was going to think about investing in a metal besides copper jacketed lead, it would be silver. Eventually it's going to skyrocket again.
I may be talking like a damned fool, but between the two, the idea of deflation strikes me as more managable than than hyper-inflation. _________________ When somebody makes a statement you don't understand, don't tell him he's crazy. Ask him what he means. -- Otto Harkaman, Space Viking |

| We could get mired in a long term deflation, not measured in fiscal quarters but in years, decades. It's definitely deflationary, at the moment though. No doubt. But, remember the govt has a "tool kit" and they plan to use it, which would mean inflation. But, one thing can most assuredly be counted on and that is much much lower standard of living in the developed world. |

I don't got no gold, but I'm holding my silver. I paid $17 each for silver eagles two days ago. _________________ "So while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power.

This deflation masks an underlying fear (and rush to the dollar)...the fear of war! _________________ Bugger me, I hear oil's runnin out mate! |

I wouldn't put too much credence in the posted price for gold. That number for the paper market, IOW, the people who think they're buying something that might not even exist.
Go check out Kitco, CNI, NW Territorial, etc. Right now they're paying over spot to anyone foolish enough to part with their PM's and there is no physical product available. _________________ Sarah Palin: Because what we really need right now is another inexperienced, inarticulate, personable, fundamentalist governor of an oil-dependent state for president. |

| Remember, it is not the crash that will cause the hyperinflation, but the government's response to the crash, which comes later. |

I'm not sure we have to wait that long. I think Mr. Paulson just bought us a huge chunk of the stock market. 8 days of the world about to end, then suddenly there's a 800 point rally right in the last hour of trading going into a three day weekend. No way that was anyone but treasury doing that. Looks like they're trying to run it up above 9,000. _________________ "So while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power.

I was expecting this. How else could they forestall a bloodbath in after hours trading. This will hold the line till monday with rumours of bargain hunting. _________________ Bugger me, I hear oil's runnin out mate! |

Sure seems like we are heading for low inflation or even deflation now, but when we reach peak oil in a few years, what then?
Though I guess this recession will push peak oil away a further year or three. The peak in 2015 guesses don't seem so weird anymore. _________________ Peak oil is not an energy crisis. It is a liquid fuel crisis. |

With retail silver unavailable, we should expect to see a lot more futures traders taking delivery. I may do that myself. Then we shall really see if the markets are manipulated. If COMEX can't deliver, we will finally see a skyrocket in silver prices. _________________ "If humans don't control their numbers, nature will." -Pimentel

Yeah. I'm guessing this was also sort of a test. They were trying this to see if it would work so they could decide whether to close the exchange on Monday. _________________ "So while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power.

| Physical silver did not go down in price today. Ebay bars are at $1600, almost 60% over the paper price. |

ALRITE, I will reluctently, admit this looks like deflation. But just wait, me and all the other inflation believers will get our day in the sun. After you deflationist are done laughing it up you better go out and get some sun screen.
Oil will probably come back up soon. We all know they will slow supply to get the higher price, it just takes time to feel it. .
I was VERY confused with gold and silver today.. And sad, I want to see gold and silver go up,, UP |
