The post-peak oil, post-housing bust economy is already driving most crazy, and we won't even get to the food riot stage for maybe two more years.

I just heard about this alternative to pads/tampons, and the women I heard about it from were raving about how much they loved them. But it struck me as a good thing to have for post-peak, if there are no disposable products available. They should last at least 10 years, possibly longer. The first two are made of silicone, the 3rd of rubber. I'd think silicone would be the better choice.

Guys, you are welcome to check these sites out, but you may regret it! Very Happy

Oh dear. I don't like the look of those at all Crying or Very sad

I did hear of a group of college students using natural sea sponges as tampons. They simply...um... removed and cleaned thoroughly and then inserted back in I think a few times a day??). Apparantly they were excellent. And of course they last for ages. I'd rather go with the sea sponge, for comfort of course Embarassed

I am sooooo glad I'm almost at menopause, so this doesn't have to be an issue with me! Laughing

Still, it's good to have solutions. Of course, women have had alternatives to tampons/napkins for most of human history, so I guess they'll make the adjustment.

My 18 year old uses the Keeper, she loves it. She used to use tampons and much prefers this. Made me mail her one when she lost hers in Mexico, they must be good.

Women used cloth rags for feminine products during medieval times. Will happen again.

I bought the Diva cup and have put it away for if I do need it in the future...if nothing else is available. But, cloth napkins were used before disposable came about. I have a pattern for making the cloth ones...so either way I'm prepared. Hopefully menopause will hit before i have to worry about that....

There are already cloth pads that many people I know use. I just bought the sample pack to try and it's no different than a regular pad... except it's reusable, washable and doesn't have that damn sticky tape stuff! Do a google search on Luna Pads or Glad Rags. Cloth pads are much much more comfortable. However, they are expensive and I can just as easily sew some together myself easily enough for much less $$$.

Where do you think the term "on the rag" came from, lol????

Oh, and I got mine at Whole Foods Markets, a three pack for $30.

You can also buy homemade cloth pads on Ebay. There are several people who make and sell them for side money. I've bought several from Ebay. I have some of the Glad Rags as well. There pretty nice...and yes...not damn sticky tape!

Anybody here has tried the moon cup? I've seen it in a shop, but I couldn't get myself to buy one without knowing about others who have tried it.

I have numerous friends who love The Keeper and wouldn't use anything else FWIW.
