| Are the wars over now, or do we have to wait for him to take office before the wars are over? I mean, I know the president doesn't have power to declare war and peace, so I guess it is not up to him. |

The wars are not over. Not now. Not in January. Not by 2012.
He really has no intention of ending the wars.
He will attempt to "reduce" the number of US troops in Iraq.
He already stated he wants to add troops to Afghanistan.
He is American and will keep our troops busy. _________________ "With man gone will there be hope for gorilla? With gorilla gone will there be hope for man?" --Ishmael by D. Quinn |

| Um Ludi, I love your quotes from Obama's site, but do you really believe anything he says? Like "i sat in that church for 20 years and never heard that preacher say those things" or tax cuts for 95% of the people are on the way. |

Please stop trying to keep fighting the election. It's over, man. Deal with it. The american people have given their trust over to him. If he's a wolf in sheep's clothing, he does a damn good job of hiding it. _________________ http://doomsteaddiary.blogspot.com/ |

So would that involve soldiers from Europe & Britain as well? Just thought I'd ask, seeing as we are involved (& dying) in this pointless war too.
I was watching the UK news a couple of weeks ago & they were covering the fly-in, procession & funeral of six soldiers killed (in about as many days) in Afghanistan.
But I don't suppose this matters really, does it?

I'm pretty sure the US president doesn't have control over non-US troops. _________________ "...powerdown so soft and fluffy you'll think you're living in a pillow." - jboogy |

Sorry Ludi, pissed off now.
Q. The fact that British & French soldiers are dying in Iraq & Afganistan has nothing to do with US foreign policy. Please answer Y or N.
Q. The 500 thousand (estimated) Iraqi civilian & military personel that have died since 2003 have nothing to do with US foreign policy, US paranoia, and the replacement of the phantom 'communist' threat with the 'islamist' one. Y or N, please.
Q. This does not involve the rest of the 'so-called' free world because a certain country now has a beautiful black president and everything is going to be OK for everyone all over the world regardless of creed, race or colour. So it's all going to be wonderful everywhere from now on.
Don't bother to answer the last one.

Don't know what you're pissed off about.
If you want to know about Obama's foreign policy plans, look at his plan. I've been linking to it for weeks now, so I'm not linking to it again.

I am talking about the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan. You can't just turn this legacy around and say,' Oh it's OK now, we have a new administration and it's a demonstration of the power of American Democracy that we are now going to say sorry to everyone & BTW that will also prove we were right all along because we have the collective power to - let me get this right - CHANGE OUR OPINIONS'.
Have you ever seen an A10 strafe an Afghani village? It's not pretty. It's not fair & it's not worth doing either. And guess what's the most beautiful part about it? It's going to happen again tomorrow. And the next day. And they day after. And it's also going to happen in Somalia. And other places.
What a beautiful farking world we live in. And guess who created it. And keep on trying to re-create themselves. Isn't it absoutely wonderfull, beautifull, and true?

C'mon JP, Ludi's point is perfectly correct. The reason that British soldiers are dying in Iraq is because of British foreign policy- your government sent them there, it didn't have to. That muppet Blair was as convinced of the righteousness of the invasion as any yank neocon. The decision to stop being a poodle and pull your troops out is in your own govt's hands. |
