What is the percentage of world energy use that is attributed to petroleum and petroleum products? Isn't it close to 90%?

I think 90% is the percentage of electricity generated with fossil fuels on avarage worldwide. By luck I live in Costa Rica, where 85% of electricity is generated by hidroelectric power. With more geothermal, wind and solar energy I think we can have 100% of renewable clean energy in ~10 years. But the car usage can still be more efficient (the majority of travels are with 1 passanger per car)... but I use the bus and walk. The air travel doesn't have an alternative that I'm aware, and IMO it is not discussed enough. _________________ anagami.net
