Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

There is not enough land for solar power because of the large number of endangered species, so speculators are paying (borrowing) $10,000/acre for desert land that used to be worth $500 on speculation of solar power plants.
Always be aware of what the rich are buying because YOU'LL be paying for it, for the common good.

Turning worthless land into a productive asset? That sounds like wealth creation to me. Wealth that will be taxes and transfered to low-income wage earners and those reliant on social services.
