|
|
| Quote: | It Runs on Water is a video with Stanley Meyer which purports to show a car powered by this fuel cell.[3] Meyer claimed that he could run a 1.6 liter Volkswagen dune buggy on water instead of gasoline.[1] He replaced the spark plugs with "injectors" to spray a fine mist of water into the engine cylinders, which he claimed were subjected to an resonant frequency. The fuel cell would split the water mist into hydrogen and oxygen gas, which would then be combusted back into water vapor in a conventional internal combustion engine to produce net energy.[1]
Meyer demonstrated his vehicle for his city's local station Action 6 News and estimated that only 22 US gallons (83 liters) of water was required to travel from Los Angeles to New York.[4].
In an article about claims of burning water, Philip Ball wrote:[5]
It's not easy to establish how Meyer's car was meant to work, except that it involved a fuel cell that was able to split water using less energy than was released by recombination of the elements.
None of Meyer's claims about the car have been independently verified. |

i'm getting more information as I can. I think its bogus but i thought i'd share it anyway. |

You think it's bogus?

We need a filter so that you can't post until you've been a member for at least 2 weeks.
I guess its part of the human condition to desire something for nothing.

I've been on this forum longer than you, my friend
128shot should ring some bells people. My account, however, refused to work.

yes. I do think it is. IE, I believe it is.
Not the 'I think" as in you can perhaps persuade me otherwise. |

If you read up on thermodynamics, you will know it is bogus.
No such thing as a free lunch. You can' t get something for nothing.
1st Law . Conservation of energy law.
The car may well run on hydrogen, but it took more energy to create the hydrogen than you got from it to run the engine. _________________ A Saudi saying, "My father rode a camel. I drive a car. My son flies a jet-plane. His son will ride a camel."

| It probably had a lot of batteries inside so it was pretty much just an electric vehicle with an internal combustion engine burning hydrogen instead of an electric motor. |

I know we've come to expect a lot of technology from Japan, but obviously they are not immune from scams.
What is this "energy generator" powered by? It's a Gwiz. It's a battery electric vehicle. The water is probably just a prop. |

+1
Its really not a bad thing. Oil is not free energy, I doubt we will ever have free energy or a net energy producer....
I do believe a water/electric car could be a viable solution to power people through a transitional period.
During post PO you could just take a battery off your home solar system, add some distilled water and you can drive to buy food, supplies or whatever.
You just have to be very careful about what catalyst you use in the solution, the wrong catalyst and you will rust out an unmodified engine very quickly.
I'm actually in the process of converting my car to run on 50% gasoline, 50% water/electricity.
Eventually I hope to run it entirely on water/electricity. However, I will have a gas tank to use for cleansing the engine each time I get to my destination. The best way I can think of to prevent rust (without ceramic coating and stainless steel parts) is to switch from water/electricity to %100 gasoline power and let the engine run for about 60 seconds, then kill the engine.
The reason for the gasoline cleansing is to purge all the water from the cyclinder, exhuast, etc. as well as purge the hydrogen lines of all hydrogen gas. Not only that but gasoline has detergents to help the metal parts resist corrosion.
For those of you that think it is a scam, I got news for you, it works.... Electrolysis is nothing new.
Electrolysis is a reactor process that splits the H2O molecule into (2)Hydrogen molecules and (1)Oxygen.
Its very simple process, but can very extremely dangerous if you dont take proper safety precautions. Both Hydrogen(think Hindenburg) and Oxygen are explosive gases.
If you dont want to spend money on a kit or plans maybe I will post a few helpful links on monday. I have to get off in a few minuts and I dont remember exactly where everything is.... _________________ Tired of high gas prices? Then stop driving to work, duh..... Learn to Work from home

But the stanley myers thing was bogus...
I think he failed to mention that you need to charge the battery, the alternator CANNOT keep the battery charged while running on hydrogen alone.
Electrolysis and running a car on water/electricity is real though. _________________ Tired of high gas prices? Then stop driving to work, duh..... Learn to Work from home

But it is more efficient to just use the electricity to run the car.
2nd law tells you that in spades. _________________ A Saudi saying, "My father rode a camel. I drive a car. My son flies a jet-plane. His son will ride a camel."

Water from the cylinders?

We are already all driving cars that run on "snake oil" that is the problem. We have to get off of snake oil and onto something else!
