I will believe the Saudis don't see any upcoming problems with Ghawar when they cancel one of their projects due to low oil prices. If they continue to be full steam ahead with increasing their capacity then I think they are aware that Ghawar may not be as robust in 5 years time as they would like us to believe.

Hi,
I'm new here and I hope I haven't missed this question anywhere else, I did try and search for it.
It seems like most of the discussion here is devoted to immediate preparations. Without undermining the importance of being immediately prepared my question is for preparing for the long term.
I'm 24, and in college. I make quite a bit more money than I'm actually spending right now as a fine dining waiter so getting a degree for a career isn't really necessary, and I don't really have a "dream" job or anything that's pulling me towards one degree in particular.
But as I'm running out of GE courses to take, I'm going to have to become a little more specialized here and I'm looking for some advice. But in the interest of making this apply to everyone I'll phrase this as broadly as possible:
In a post PO world, what sort of education do you think is going to be most helpful? I'm less interested in the actual degree and more interested in the knowledge aspect of this question (tho I welcome any advice or insight about either).

Nobody knows what the future will hold. If you think we're in for a hard crash, you might look at going into something mechanical to help fix all the old tech that people will want to keep running as long as possible.
If you believe in hard times without a die-off, I would suggest something to do with wind power installation, research, etc, or even oil exploration. We're going to be desperate to get as much other energy systems in place as possible as soon as things really start getting tough.

Welcome to PeakOil.com
Fine Dining will take a beating in the next few years. Be aware. _________________ Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. Many more than half will die. It will occur everywhere, including where you live. If you fail to recognize this, then your odds of living move toward the "going to die" group.
