Matt Simmons predicts the next financial meltdown will make what is happening now seem insignificant.....the current economic mess was triggered by peak oil and high oil prices....what is coming will be worse---and will involve massive energy shortages and food shortages.

Oh G-d, just what we need - a bunch of do-good liberals driving their SUVs to a congregation site where they will ride bikes to stamp out poverty.

I'm certain microcredit is going to solve the problem of BILLIONS of people that we will not be able to feed as oil declines, not.

Marvelous! This is great! Everyone (except me) ought to send them money!

No doubt some who are familiar with my normal posting patterns are raising a suspicious eyebrow at this point, wondering where the thorn might be in this rosy behavior.

Simple. It helps increase overshoot, thus making the die-off more profound, more painful, and more destructive.

See?

Cool

I'm a cyclist. An ex-road racer. I have too many bikes. I'm a bike snob.
But I HATE organized rides of any kind. ICK! These people are going to Tijuana, Mexico to make sure 6,670,022,692 humans stay out of poverty? Good....F&*!$#@ luck!

Somewhat related....I was delighting in Carlin's comedy just before reading this thread:
