I will believe the Saudis don't see any upcoming problems with Ghawar when they cancel one of their projects due to low oil prices. If they continue to be full steam ahead with increasing their capacity then I think they are aware that Ghawar may not be as robust in 5 years time as they would like us to believe.

This is more an FYI then anything. I dont think the majority of people in this world truly appreciate what goes into their foods, nor how much food prices lag behind current prices.
Anhydrous Ammonia is a high nitrogen fertilizer. Application rates run 40 to 50 pounds per acre of farmland. When my father was farming it ran roughly $150 or so per ton. Few years ago it had skyrocketed up to 700 or so per ton.It nows around 1000 per ton. Most of that price increase was in the past few years.
Dry fertilizer runs application rates of about the same 40 to 50 pounds per acre. Fertilizer prices for dry are roughly 360 per ton.
Cost per acre of corn for just seed and fertilizer runs about $130. This is a huge increase over what it used to be. For more detailed information you can look here] or for specific historical fertilizer prices here
Anhydrous ammonia from last year to this has almost doubled in price, let alone the doubling in the few years before that.
None of this factors in the costs for running the machinery through the fields, transportation, storage, cleaning or grinding.
Point being, if you think food prices are bad now, you aint seen nothing........ _________________ "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the

In what way is this a "Planning" topic?
Planning is my Off Topic, just because "Off Topic" seems to be geared more to off planet these days. I mean seriously, you want me to put this in with the other threads about Planet X, the Mayan Calender and the US Government trying to nuke away the Van Allen belts??
But to answer your questionb, it should illustrate how important it is to plan ahead and maybe start canning / gardening. While not a true "Planning" topic it does go hand in hand with planning.
Maybe it should have went in Current Energy news?? _________________ "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the

Maybe it should go in one of the zillion threads on canning or gardening then?
No.
While this might pertain to those threads, I dont want to clutter up those threads either. Someone searching for such information wouldnt give 2 hoots about fertilizer prices. _________________ "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the

Good point. Any suggestions on what we should do?
Obviously the only thing to do is give Ludi and SPG the whips and let them treat me bad.

I know why you used that term, but I can't help but think of Reverend Wright every time I hear that term, now. _________________ As long as I am around, there are no worries we have reached "Peak Words"
