I will believe the Saudis don't see any upcoming problems with Ghawar when they cancel one of their projects due to low oil prices. If they continue to be full steam ahead with increasing their capacity then I think they are aware that Ghawar may not be as robust in 5 years time as they would like us to believe.

I was thinking to hoard gas and I found it has shelf life of as much as 18 months.
Diesel , kerosene, ... same story.
I thought of hoarding LP gas and I need special tanks.
Then I found that ethyl alcohol could be an ideal solution.
As far as I have been researching, pure alcohol (ethyl alcohol) has a shelf life of more than a human being has. And you also can drink it and it also has calories for your consumption if theres no food around.
I put alcohol into my coleman propane stove and cooked my breakfast just fine.
In short, looks like just an ideal fuel to hoard.
The primary usage will be for food preparation.
A 20 liters LP gas cost me today $20 usd.
A 20 liters 100% ethyl alcohol cost me 23 usd (including the tank).
Prices will double in 2 years without any doubt.
The plastic tank is made of reinforced polyethylene and the dealer assures it will not evaporate. If I stockpile 1,000 liters of ethyl alcohol now, I could use it when it appriciates in value enough and eliminate my energy consumption for a year or so (still have to measure this exactly though) . And you can sell the plastic tank after that because all the plastic items will only go up in value.
Looks like a good investment without any loss.
What do you guys think of this? Any point I am missing?
Will appriciate any comment.

I am still analyzing to hoard sugar in order to produce alcohol myself, but in the mean time I found this alcohol stove.

looks like I am not the first one with this idea of using alcohol for cooking

That would be a lot of alcohol and even with distiller's yeast, a lot of sugar. What is "plan B"?

Sounds OK except trying to get one's daily calories by drinking it. May do more harm than good to those with weaker livers.

Another use may be to dilute it by 66% to 75% with water and use it as a soap replacement to bath with by sponge bath method then wash it off. I do that with rubbing alcohol when I boondock.

Plan B...yes, there always seems to be a fly in the ointment with being totally self sufficient.

Really, I've been thinking over-- honey, red wine and alcohol make perfect hoarding items. You can eat it, you can drink it/sanitize water/ you can burn it, you can sell it, u name it.

just something for you to think about.
