I will believe the Saudis don't see any upcoming problems with Ghawar when they cancel one of their projects due to low oil prices. If they continue to be full steam ahead with increasing their capacity then I think they are aware that Ghawar may not be as robust in 5 years time as they would like us to believe.

wow very doomerish. Leave it to Tom Whipple to always have something concise and right on to add to the dialogue.

Living off our stockpiles cannot last. Prices are gonna be quickly going up big time and shortages are gonna start showing up. By 2010 our lives are going to be drastically changed especially with no more oil coming in from Mexico.

Let's hope for the best in people and in our adaptability to change.

The Word of the day is DOWNSIZE, I know I try to communicate it to everyone I interact with

I live in Seattle. This city seems hell bent on trying to import as many people it can get from the third world before everything goes butts up.

As if they want to make things as bad as they can get them before things go under. Can someone explain this to me?

Overpopulation doesn't bring out the best in people. Trust me.

Every summer is the summer of doom. But hey, a broken watch is right twice a day.

They don't realize what's going on - I mean, no clue. Zip. A doomer - no wait, DOOMER - pal of mine likes to tell people he'll be fine, because he's going to mount a wind turbine on the roof of his car. Usually they take an active interest in his admirable renewable energy stance... Mad

I'm new here, and relatively uninformed, compared to all of you. Thanks to you I am learning quickly. Could someone please explain/define stockpiles and reserves, national and global? And do the numbers include the govt's Strategic Reserves?

Idiot Conservative - "If we could only drill in ANWAR we wouldn't be in this mess."

Idiot Liberal - "If we would just invest in alternatives, we wouldn't be in this mess."

Do they always misspell ANWR? That extra A makes it look similar to Ghawar, always seemed like some subconscious mental slip to me.

Phoeberose - Wolf at the Door is an excellent PO primer. Stock(pile)s are simply how much oil/gasoline/etc. we have in the distribution/storage system. Note that this has to remain above a certain Minimum Operating Level, or MOL. In the US for crude oil this is ca. 270 million barrels.

The US Government's Energy Information Administration (EIA) website lists inventories of stocks of crude, with or without the SPR.

Hope that helps, and wilkommen!

That's kinda funny, as I saw an *awful lot* of commercials for that place when I was stuck at the house of a TV addict last weekend.

And I kept thinking to myself, why would anyone want to go someplace in BFE Missouri of all places? Especially with gas at $4 plus a gallon. Shocked

No sh*t Sherlock, there ain't gonna be a season in Branson, MO, not this year, and probably not ever.

Thats it !! - I've had enough. Summer is here, mid June in England & its COLD. Wife just put gas fire on as I write. Global warming my arse. Shell fuel tanker drivers on strike, the're on £32000 / year ($64000) & want £39000 ($78000) - Greedy bastards. (what do Yank truckers earn) - Alltogether bad news all around.

Time for action folk, this is what I'm doing

1. Cut down seriously on car use - sick of MY MONEY going to the Arabs, (via the banks!!!!) (just been on a bike ride with kids).

2. EVERYTHING I buy I will look where its made. West OK, CHINDIA gets put back on the sales shelf, unless its something I really need & there is no alternative. Easier said than done, but I intend trying. Quite simply they can GET STUFFED. They can have SOME of my trade, but they are NOT having it all.

3. I'm fed up of subsidising the third world. They allways want, want, want. Africans being the laziest bastards on this planet they deserve f*** all, and that is what they will get out of me.

BTW far east, china etc are NOT lazy - very industrious, but TPTB in China suck grandstyle. They can stick their Olympics also. They will go wrong big time, (as will London's in 2012).

4. STUFF the big name supermarkets. In Tesco (UK) profit of £2.9 BILLION announced, but food prices doubled, same with Asda (Wallmart) & snooty Sainsbury's, STUFF THEM, its Aldi & Lidl for the basics, and its good value.

5. STUFF the doomers, look at my signature below. (might be wrong on this !!!).

6. Politicians - Viva la revolution. (I'm afraid for me only at the ballot box).

7. Open to more suggestions, Any offers ??

Rant over, (as is often said on these posts).

Angry Gasmon
