It's in the "planning for the future" forum.
I started the thread a couple of days ago and posted to it assorted times. Yesterday, I suddenly started getting an error message, something to the effect: HTTP 406 Not Available.
Others have posted to the thread since I started having problems. I've tried editing, and posting a reply and the results are the same.
What's up with that?
For the record, I posted a thread in the Open Forum without problem. Another poster said he was having similar problems on random threads.
Please help. |

I don't know, but every single one of my recent threads has disappeared too. Two days ago I posted this item regarding expert testimony on impact of speculation:
http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/gas-could-fall-2-if/story.aspx?guid={2673C102-68E0-41D9-9C9A-10EE2E723948}&dist=msr_13
and it promptly got deleted for some reason.
Either it is technical difficulties, or else the Mods are randomly deleting threads / posts.
The po-nography stayed up longer than my thread did!
(Note: I expect this thread will be gone by this time tomorrow too.) |

The HTTP 406 Not Available. message shows up if you copy/paste non English characters into the forum post.
It also sometimes shows up if you copy/paste a MS Word document with certain formatting.
This is a security check.
I suggest you clear your cookies and if you need to copy/paste use notepad or some plain text.. |

I think we have had some problems with posts appearing out of sequence lately, which can make it look like they're missing. It's happening to moderators and admins as well! Dan (admin) has been working on the code, this is a temporary problem. _________________ "Every junkie's like a setting sun..." - Neil Young |

I saw your clarification in your Open Discussion post, cudabachi - you must have a word or phrase in your post that's being interpreted as a SQL statement. Usually it's "sel.ect" (without the dot) that causes the problem. Try rewording it. _________________ "Every junkie's like a setting sun..." - Neil Young |

Moderators Do Not randomly delete threads OR posts.
In addition, please use the hyperlink feature when posting links-especially the long ones such as the one you noted above. _________________ "RRrrruuuunnnn!!!" ~Apocalypto |

OK, I just today learned how to post pics. I'm tech challenged. I know it. How do I use the hyperlink feature? That's where you replace the link with a word or phrase, right? Thanks in advance! _________________ A man should never wear a hat that has more character than he does. |

There are two ways (that I know of) to do so:
1. Have the url address handy; click on the greenish ball with the chain link below it. A Script Prompt box should appear. Paste the URL address you have handy over the top of the http:// that appears there. Click ok. Then, the box will appear again. Erase the "webpagename" words and write a name for your link. Click ok.
NOTE: If you get a box that says, "Error. You didn't write the URL. You didn't write the page name," you have something engaged (pop-up blocker?). Click ok. Then, somewhere at the top of your screen, a temporary 'permission' line will appear. Something like "This website is using a scripted window to ask you for information. If you trust this website, click here to allow scripted windows." Click it, and then the above mentioned box should appear. (If it doesn't, your are on your own-I am not that computer savvy!).
2. Paste your URL into your post. At the front of it, type [url=
The http part should immediately follow the equal sign-no space.
At the end of your URL address, type: ]link[/url]
First bracket, in front of the word, link, must immediately follow the end of the URL address-no space.
Where the word, link, is is where you put the name of your link. Or, you can just use link, or article, or story--you get the picture.
If you want to post an URL that starts with www, just add the http:// to the front of it, then follow the directions above. _________________ "RRrrruuuunnnn!!!" ~Apocalypto |
