Nearly five million Indian lorry drivers went on strike yesterday to protest against the surge in fuel prices and in a move that could paralyse the country's economy.
Trucks ferry nearly 70 per cent of India's freight and the strike has already disrupted the supply of goods, especially essentials such as vegetables and fruit.
