The economies of the world are suffering because they are using the US dollar as their reserve currency on the world market, principally with oil. Consequently, as the dollar falls, it's dragging down other economies with it, creating a worldwide crisis. Thus some of them are now saying it's time to 'uncouple' or 'depeg' from the dollar:
