I will believe the Saudis don't see any upcoming problems with Ghawar when they cancel one of their projects due to low oil prices. If they continue to be full steam ahead with increasing their capacity then I think they are aware that Ghawar may not be as robust in 5 years time as they would like us to believe.

When I was a kid, my folks had three coffee pots. The first was a Sunbeam vacuum pot (electric), the second was an electric percolator (ugh!) the 3rd is the kind I am looking for.

It has separate top and bottom parts. You put the ground coffee in the top, pour boiling water through, and voila! Great drip coffee.

You remove the top part, put the lid on the bottom part, and you serve from that.

Great for making coffee using ANY kind of heat source on which you can boil water .... including camp fires.

Any ideas where I could find one of these? Our Cuisinart coffee pot's days are numbered, and I don't want to replace it with another electric one.

Thanks

Lumpy

We get a catalog for Amish with lots of nice looking SS pots pans, manual kitchen utensils canning supplies and such. I can't find one right now but when we get the next one I'll be sure to post up the phone # and address.

Don´t dismiss them out of hand, Lumpy. They do create pressure, and some produce ´crema´. It´s like a reliable expresso machine, without the fuss. And they make coffee that is infintely tastier than anything that doesn´t use pressure.

I also get the Shetlers catalog (thanks to Pops for the recommendation) and do not see anything like you are describing. I did, however, see a couple of things that I've been thinking about but have not bought yet.

Hey Cur, don't hold back.

What is this Shetlers catalog and how do we get one (Lumpy & I).

We found a very good coffee pot on the Lehman's website; made of stainless steel.

Might not be what you want, but I use a reusable filter in a filter cone to make my coffee at home. I found the filter cone and the filter at garage sales for less than a dollar each 15 or so years ago, and they work fine for me. If more than one person regularly drank coffee at our house, I would have bought bigger sizes of both.

Scratch that found one stainless steel top and bottom... don't know how to describe it Lindy's brand $70.00 a piece.

You have to write to request a catalog:

Shetler's WholeSale
10111 S 45E
Geneva, IN 46740-9114

There is also a Fax number: 260-368-9071

Lots of great stuff

Why not go with a French Press? You can get them in stainless if you don't mind spending about 60 to 70 bucks...

Have a small French Press. Husband doesn't like the coffee grounds that always get past the plunger.

I use it at my offices.

Interesting. I never have that problem with mine. Maybe your grind is too fine (it should be slightly coarser than for drip), or the edge of the screen is damaged? dontknow
