I will believe the Saudis don't see any upcoming problems with Ghawar when they cancel one of their projects due to low oil prices. If they continue to be full steam ahead with increasing their capacity then I think they are aware that Ghawar may not be as robust in 5 years time as they would like us to believe.

Currious for comments but what does anyone here think on this one. Bad journalism, deluded scientist or a grain of truth about abiotic theory. If the theory is true and peak oil is four hundred years off then we really are f**k when it comes to global warming. We just can't win can we Embarassed

2003 article from Rense.com?

Rense.com authors of fine quality UFO journalism?

http://www.rense.com/ufo/ufo.htm

Maybe a UFO will come with some oil for us.

The rense article just points to this:

http://www.geotimes.org/june03/NN_gulf.html

If there's so much oil why not sell it at incredible prices and become insanely rich?

It's much easier to talk about oil than to produce it. Production requires facts not fiction.

OK bit of a Waco site but some interesting links amongst the alien abductions. I did not realise that a thread had already been started on this topic, as I said just curious about the science if any of Abiotic oil theory. On further reading I find that abiotic theorists are in a minority even in Russian scientific circles.

Eugene Island has since petered out.

Interesting that another mainstream pop-sci book called "9 crazy ideas in science" by Robert Ehrlich" doesn't consider the idea too cuckoo:
