I will believe the Saudis don't see any upcoming problems with Ghawar when they cancel one of their projects due to low oil prices. If they continue to be full steam ahead with increasing their capacity then I think they are aware that Ghawar may not be as robust in 5 years time as they would like us to believe.

Check out this site:

Now, here's the thing. We eight have come to believe that a crisis is coming – on April 30, to be precise. (An oil shock, or something to do with oil.) We have no proof – it's just something a guy said in an unguarded moment. He may have been putting us on. But we don't think so. We have decided to prepare.

It is a work of fiction. Perhaps some kind of collaborative role-playing game. Interesting idea.

But even more interesting is who's behind it. The Corporation For Public Broadcasting is funding it. In other words, the U.S. government.

i'm curious to see what it is. some kind of online virtual reality game....hmmm

i guess we'll have to wait till april 30..

Yeah, but that is a Flash version for the younger folks. Maybe they'll come up with some creative ways of dealing with the situation, who knows.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm starting to get the impression that maybe there's a sort of peak oil underground out there that could be a lot more extensive than any of us realize.

Could it be that there are far more people very much aware of what's coming than we think there are? They're lying low at the moment because they've learned, as we have learned, how they're treated when they go public with their concerns. But perhaps they're going to start emerging from the shadows pretty soon. It could be that when the supply and demand curves finally cross, and the initial shortages begin, we'll see the flood gates open, and a host of closet peak oilers will start yelling from the rooftops.

Or maybe they're planning something more... People do extreme things when there's nothing to lose and everything to save.

Personally, I find this a bit bizarre and it has set off my "spidey sense."

Maybe they want to corral people into online role playing games so they don't step out of line in real life?

In other words, people might respond to these problems in irrational ways if left to their own devices. But if we corral them into playing video games . . .

No.

If that were the case, the traffic on the PO blogs would be in the A or B, not C category.

So we have this crisis coming, and people's response is to play games.

This is exceedingly bizarre.

How about learning to ferment cabbage instead?

No way. I've been sounding the alarm bells all over the Net and to everyone I know and many I've never met before. I happened to run into an old friend the other day and did my pitch about PO. He knew exactly what I was talking about (enviromental engineer). This is the ONLY person I've talked to about PO that has a clue.
